I don't do a lot of metal work, and have used cheap flap wheels when needed. These were an obvious and pleasant step up from what I'm used to. They ran smooth and removed rust, scale and burrs with a light even pressure. And they last pretty long, but I like to change before they start flying apart in all directions. For smaller jobs, the little extra cost is more than worth it. Will buy more with confidence when needed.

This is my favorite flap disc. It is Made in the USA (with global materials) and beautifully crafted. The zirconia alumina sandpaper lasts much longer compared to the cheap China flap discs. And it’s safer too, less likely to fly apart at high RPM. This is great for cleaning/prepping steel and stainless steel.

These are Weiler's 24-grit flap wheels. They're sold as a pack of 10 for 110.00.These flap wheels appear to be of very high quality, as they should be, since they are priced at a premium. At 11.00/ea., they're over twice the price of Menards' Masterforce brand flap wheels (36-grit). I would normally point out that the Weiler product is made in America, which I will always pay more for, but in this case, the Masterforce product is also made in America.So I suppose the difference will come down to which product lasts longer. I have some metalwork I plan to do this weekend (it's Tuesday morning as I type this review), so I'll pick up a Masterforce flap wheel and plan to use both on my project and post a follow-up review detailing how each wheel has held up.
