I was skeptical at first as previous soldering stations only lasted me just over a month before burning out. This one is a complete different story, perfect for micro soldering. Gets up to temp super fast and the sleep function seems to work well.My only issue is the iron connector to the base. The thumb screw/nut was cut very short and I can’t even get one thread on it. If I’m not careful and yank the iron it gets unplugged.

The WEP 982-I Soldering Iron Station is a standout for anyone involved in micro and small soldering projects. Its precise temperature control allows for meticulous work on delicate components, offering reliability and consistent performance. Although it's a bit small for larger soldering jobs, this doesn't detract from its effectiveness where it's intended to excel. For those specific needs, it's practically perfect. The iron heats up quickly, maintaining the set temperature throughout the duration of use, which is a huge plus. Its compact size also makes it ideal for workbenches with limited space. This station has become an essential tool in my kit for all micro soldering tasks, underscoring its intended use with excellent results.

I've been using cheap no-names for years with just as much success (luck?) as people claim about Weller or Hakko. But I ruined a rare playstation 1 circuit board mod recently by trying to make standard size irons and their tips work for a nerve-racking ~20 joint job that needed precision. I was accidentally burning innocent transistors, melting critical CPU pins, and bridging.Maybe a guru could get a classic weller to handle small game console repair, but I don't care to master this skill since I only solder my own items a few times per year. That said, this product solved my problems for me. It was between this and the cordless 'pinecil' iron searchable on here. This tool's pencil grip was the real game changer. The auto cooldown also left me with a feeling of zen between soldering, instead of that 'did I leave the oven on' kind of anxiety I get with a regular iron in the room. But frankly if there was a cheaper option to get this iron with a cord that goes straight to the wall, that's all I would have needed. I found it hard to find a well-reviewed, corded, precision iron under fifty bucks. This was worth the price nonetheless, and it looks pretty cool too.

I've had several different types of irons over the years and this is my favorite without a doubt. It's perfectly thought out. It's small and easy to handle with nice silicone wire. The main body is made of a high quality extruded housing and can be placed away from the handle and holder to free up space. The holder is one of the best features. It is sold and heavy and doesn't move around. It has spots for extra tips but the best part is the handle auto senses when its placed in the holder. It goes to a sort of semi-sleep mode until removed then quickly heats up to the set temp again. The tips provided seems to be very good quality so far and are very sharp. I've used it on several SMD repairs so far and the size is great for small work.I would definitely recommend this and wouldn't hesitate to buy again if needed.

I purchased this solder iron to replace the charging port on a Galaxy Tab-E tablet.Looked well built and pretty much, a straight up, good looking station. The first thing I noticed was that the soldering tips I received, were not the 3 advertised. I received 2 straight tips, instead of the 3 tips, 1 straight, 1 curved and 1 chisel tip, that was advertised. When getting ready to use, the station returned a sensor error. This typically means that the tip is bad and needs to be replaced. I installed the 2nd tip I received and got the same error. (Yes, the silicone protective sleeve was removed from both before installing). The odds of both tips being bad was slim so I'm guessing the problem was within the main station body.I opted to return the station and have Amazon send me another, Will update this review once I have a chance to use the replacement.UPDATE: Received the replacement and had the same problem. I will get a refund for this and get a different model. Shame.. I really liked this thing. If one of them would have only worked..
