I was using the D10-55 bit to make six drawers for a vanity. They are of maple (3/4” x 3 ¼”) and the work was being done on an Incra router table with an LS Positioner, a Porter Cable 3.25 hp. Motor, and an Incra router lift. I finished cutting the tails (3 per drawer end / 12 ends).I began to cut the pins and after cutting 5 (2 pins per drawer end / 2.5 ends) both carbides snapped off the bit. The bit was not hot to the touch and the feed rate for all the work was reasonable. I am now faced with the task of attempting to complete the drawers (1/2 done) with a different bit. Will the depth of cut for a tight joint be identical or even compatible? Shall we say that I am not pleased? I had hoped that Whiteside offered an “American Made” alternative to Freud bits. Perhaps not.
