Got this as a gift for my wife who likes to burn candles but struggled to reach in and trim the wicks. She loves this tool and uses it each time before relighting her candles.

There’s many wick trimmers available but this one hit the sweet spot for me. It works well to trim candle wicks, will even catch the trimmed pieces for removal, and also is attractive with decorative details on the metalwork. I’m happy with this purchase and find this trimmer much easier than scissors!

This wick trimmer is so handy for someone who burns a lot of candles that now it seems like a necessity to me--I quickly came to wonder how I made do without it before. It is designed exactly for its purpose (unlike scissors) so it can get in there when your wick is low down into the candle but needs to be trimmed. These are very pretty-looking--certainly giftable--and work smoothly and well. When they first arrived and I tested them they seemed to be stiff and were not opening and closing smoothly, but after a few tries that stopped and they worked well. So, if when you first get them this happens I would say give it a few openings and closings and see if it improves before sending them back.THIS IS A LATER ADDENDUM TO MY REVIEW: After a couple of months of using the wick trimmer it has unfortunately become rather dull so now it is hard to cut the wick using this trimmer--it sort of hacks at it like when you have dull or bad scissors and are trying to use them on fabric. It is too bad because otherwise I was really happy with this, but the dullness is enough of a problem that I may have to replace it soon, and it is really too soon/too short a time of usage for that to be necessary.

This is great for cutting wicks and not getting the wick falling into the candle. Nice and mess free. I do wish there was a taller base so I could set the cutter to the was and cut off just the right amount. I kind of have to guess that I'm not cutting it to low. That would make these perfect. Sturdy and good quality. WAY better than scissors. lol

Perfect! This is one of those items that you don’t realize you need until you have it. Candles burn better and last longer with their wicks trimmed, but it can be very tricky to get scissors in there to do the job. This item works like a charm, even has a little rim around the cutting area to contain the trimmed piece so you can throw it in the trash. It’s quite substantial and feels well made. It even has some decorative engraving and would make a lovely gift along with a nice tall candle:)

I recently purchased two more of these--meaning, I had purchased one years ago. I used it a lot--still do--and it never fails me! I have candles in several rooms so it is convenient to have a few extra wick trimmers in some of those rooms. They work easily and perfectly but please take the time to trim the wicks carefully so you don't cut them back too short, and have a tissue handy to collect the cut charcoally wicks to discard. I keep these trimmers in drawers, but they really look nice when you take them out to use. You could keep them atop a table if you wish--they are nice looking. We should have nice looking things in our homes to make us happy--even wick trimmers! It is important and a safety measure to ensure the wicks on our candles are cut correctly to avoid flames that rise too high because of long wicks. I fully recommend these.nice looking and highly effective wick trimmers.

I don't know how I ever lived without this awesome wick trimmer. I love candles and have one burning 90% of the time in my home. Before buying this I was using scissors to keep wicks trimmed and more often than not would end up with black soot on my fingers or hands from having to reach down into the candle container to get to the wick. This wonderful tool due to its length and quality manufacturing has made it possible to get to the wick "hands and finger free"! Just ordered another to give my daughter in law who admired mine when she saw me trimming wicks. This is a must have for anyone who burns candles

Love this little gadget. It was delivered to my mailbox this afternoon, a day ahead of projected delivery. While I can't yet speak to the longevity of the trimmer, it appears sturdy and well crafted. I have tested it on several candles--including both wood wicks and traditional wicks--large jar candles, votives, and smaller jar candles. The trimmer works great, and keeps the sooty black wick trimmings from falling back into the candle. I'm left wondering why I went so many years without one of these!
