OK, this mallet could be used to break in your baseball glove. But I needed a mallet to pound meat in my kitchen. And this wooden mallet feels good in my hand and provides a nice flat surface to pound my chicken or beef to a flatter shape for even cooking.Note, that I use the mallet in a straight downward direction holding the handle and using quick pounding movement with the large flat size down. The thin neck on the mallet means that it is not going to be able to handle side swings. In other words, don't use it alike a bat as it my break.

Got this item for my son to break in a new glove and it is very well built. He has had no issues with the handle at all. It does seem to be oddly shaped though and a round end, shaped more like a baseball, seems like it would work better for breaking in gloves.

I would say there is all pros with this item. I bought it to help my son break in his new baseball glove, and it has definitely helped speed the process along. Of course the best way is to play catch, but this is something he can use at any time, even when inside the house. Would highly recommend for breaking in any glove for any level!

Got this to try out as a shop mallet for chiseling and just banging on stuff that needs banging on.This is one sturdy mallet. I don't know if it's ash like most baseball bats, but it surely feels like it is. Hard as a rock... no knots... imagine a very short, stout baseball bat and you're dead-on.Might just keep it in the car as a crime deterrent. (But who brings a stubby baseeball bat to a gun fight?!)

This is a good mallet to loan to teammates. Maybe you're a coach--let one player borrow this each week. It's the off season right now, so my son is using it to break in a new Wilson A1000 glove. Many gloves these days arrive partially broken in already. Ironically, the more expensive gloves need more breaking than the cheaper ones. It is because the more expensive ones still use natural leather. Not every glove needs to be broken in, but letting your child break in his glove will foster more pride in and care for his equipment.I'm surprised how much my 10 year old son uses this mallet. He's probably hit his glove for about an hour a day all week. He sat and watched the World Series while pounding away on his new Wilson glove! (If that's not a kid dreaming of the big leagues, I don't know what is!) We also used this in combination with glove oil. The process seems to be working well, although my wife thinks the process is loud.About the durability: The mallet is a solid piece of natural wood. These kinds of items can be hit-and-miss sometimes, just like with wood baseball bats. I feel sorry for the other reviewer whose mallet had a knot. Our mallet seems to be holding up just fine. The price is good too. Overall, we're happy with this.

Baseball Glove Mallet-Ball Glove Shapping Mallet Glove Mallet for Glove Break-in and Shaping Baseball Hammer Baseball Softball Glove MalletI don’t play baseball, so I don’t know how well this works as a glove mallet. I actually got it as a fish club. It fits well in the hand, has a nice heft to it and is very solid. I read another review that said the handle cracked when they tried to use it. I’m guessing that was a fluke. I smacked this against my wooden bench several times very hard. It actually made some small indentations in my bench but did nothing to the mallet. I imagine this would work very well as a glove mallet.

This thing is absolute trash. Learn by my mistake and buy one of the better ones. This on literally broke the first time I hit the glove with it.

This is made of hard solid rubber wood. I have never heard of this before, but I can attest that this works perfect to get your baseball glove ready for play. My grandchildren are going to play Fall and Spring ball, and they needed to get larger gloves. As usual they are very stiff and rigid. I started on both of the gloves as one is for baseball and the other for softball. There is such a difference from before and after. My granddaughter is eight years old, and it was hard to catch balls during practice with her new glove. After the break-in with my new mallet, she didn't miss a ball and even the coach told her "What happened from this weekend?" She was now able to open and close her glove easier with her hand. This is a win-win! I wet the glove and started to hit the rigid spots and shape the glove. Just in time for ball.
