This is a great bottle opener! After struggling with other models, this one is a dream! Great quality, especially for the price!

Have had a number of these openers over the years and find this works as well as more expensive ones--I can recommend this one.

My wife and I drink about 5-12 bottles of wine a week, depending on what's going on with work and life. I've had several of the rabbit-style openers and none of them proved satisfactory. I even bought a battery-operated opener that worked pretty freaking well but it ate premium batteries like they were nothing (I calculated it cost $0.25 per bottle opened just in batteries). I noticed our favorite winery, which is a small boutique operation, using this style of corkscrew so I asked them about it, and learned they buy this particular one 3 or 4 at a time. They get at least 3-4 months out of one of these. The only weak point they've found is where the the grip of the handle meets bare metal, and they fix them when they break using a short piece of PVC. Other than that these things are great, and they tell me they've never replaced the spiral because usually the rest of the mechanism wears out before then. So, a commercial operation is spending about $0.01 per bottle opened for this device. That's a good enough recommendation for me! I've found it to be a little tough to pull a synthetic cork, but definitely not worse than any of the rabbits (the latest of which I have is really difficult to drive into the cork most of the time). The only negative of this opener is the built-in foil cutter is kind of worthless unless the foil/capsule is really tight on the bottle. Using it on a loose capsule results in that spinning while trying to cut off the top. For whatever reason the opener I bought came with a separate foil cutter which I just threw in the bowl with the other half-dozen I already had. And anyway, I want my opener to just open; the built-in cutter seems unnecessary and also is kind of tricky to set onto the bottle (it's a different part of the opener). No regrets at all on this purchase.
