Pros:Almost completely solid wood (the filing cabinet does use some veneered MDF in the back of the unit and the bottoms of the shelves).Assembly was easy and straightforward, though nowhere near as fast as some of the other reviews claim. The modular design makes it simple to reconfigure and move by one's self if careful.Cons:The 20" depth is hard to get around, especially on the writing desk if the hutch is installed. There just isn't a wealth of surface space. The bottom of the two desks is about 23½" from the ground. I'm 5' 10" and my legs barely fit beneath them. The keyboard tray isn't deep enough for any of the trackballs I've owned.Misc:The 20" depth and the 23" underneath the desk do give it the child's furniture vibe.As noted in other reviews, there are many inferior options at higher prices available.Much of the pre-assembly is pocket joinery. Conclusion:Ultimately, if this were a "small" and a medium were available, I think I'd be head-over-heels in love with the medium. Being one-size fits all, I think it's ultimately a stopgap solution for me, which is a shame, as I am thrilled with the materials and satisfied with its construction.

was easy to put assemble use your own tools rather than the wrench sent with the desk. Assembly will go much faster with a scokett set.

I am SO glad I took a leap of faith and purchased this set! One of the reviewers published a photo, and I'll do the same, as that was instrumental in finally committing to purchase it. I had several mismatched desks and pieces in my home office and needed to do a complete overhaul. Overall, this was relatively a breeze to put together. The file cabinet was probably the most time consuming, but still doable. I highly recommend that you get yourself a 1/2 inch ratchet wrench and a Allen wrench set with handle - it will make assembly MUCH easier.I just love the looks of this and for the price, it can't be beat. I shopped around town and was floored at the prices for furniture that wasn't anywhere near the quality of this set. It IS real wood; the flimsiest part of the set would be the bottoms of the drawers, which aren't solid like the rest of the set. I was afraid that the storage wouldn't be ample so I did go ahead and purchase the bookshelf as well...with a little purging, everything fits great!Fortunately, I didn't have any of the issues that others have stated about the condition the boxes were in when they received them. Mine came in and each of them were perfect without any damage to the contents.

poor packaging and fastneners. Every piece I had to either glue something up, use my brad nailer or tap out holes. Good idea, poor execution of quality.

I searched for six or seven months for the right desk for my beautiful home office. I love lighter wood, which is hard enough to find, and I wanted something that I could adjust but would be a corner desk. If those are your only criteria, you're already out of luck when it comes to 99% of possible desks. This desk met those and all of my other extremely particular requirements, from drawers to a file drawer to a keyboard shelf and more. Now, let's get specific:PROS• Very sturdy, real wood• Keyboard rack (it has a lip on it that irritated by wrists, so we just turned the wood around so the lip was in the back - an easy fix, and it keeps my second mouse from falling off the back, to boot)• Extremely easy assembly - comes with huge chunks assembled, and you just put them together• Strong drawers• Strong printer shelf: I use mine for very heavy books, and then I have a giant all-in-one on top of it - all of the pieces are impressively sturdy• The drawer in the printer stand is the PERFECT size for a ream of paper - someone's a genius• Perfect arrangement of drawers in the 4-drawer piece: 3 medium drawers perfect for supplies, with a file drawer at the bottom which can be used for legal or letter-sized files• Durable surface doesn't stain or mark-up easily (though I use coasters because I'm like that)• Beautiful lighter wood• Easily move around the pieces to fit your space and needs. The value of this cannot be overstated. This is a customizable corner desk!• Move with ease! Unlike one-piece corner desks, this baby moves in five manageable pieces! You can move them yourself or not worry one bit as the movers take them piece-by-piece. No disassembling for doorways. No uneven weight distribution threatening you topple you down the stairs. Amazing. All desks should come like this.• Open design is not only very nice, keeping your space looking larger and more open, but it's also very practical if, like me, you have tons of electronics woven around this baby. Cord placement and threading around are a breeze. Easier than any other desk I've ever had.• Light-weight, but sturdy. Each individual section is easy to move, and you don't have to be strong.• The shelf on the corner table is surprisingly strong. I put a very heavy computer on it, and it didn't bow at all. Don't be deceived by how thin it looks!• There are other matching pieces, too! Once I have more space, I'll be getting the bookshelves. And you can add duplicates of your favorites, too. Want more drawers? Just buy that piece individually! So practical...CONS: There really aren't any, so let's stretch for a few...• Wooden surface isn't one piece of wood cut to fit their needs, it's cut pieces fit together. You can see the lines, but they're smooth.• Keyboard tray has a lip that may irritate your wrist. This is easily fixed by turning the tray piece around during assembly.• If your floor is uneven, each piece may have a small space between them or make a bump in your table surface. I don't have this problem.• It's more expensive than non-wood, garbage desk options. Take it from someone who's owned plenty of those and has had this one now for years: This is worth the money. It will last, and it will adjust to the space you need it in. I've never regretted spending the money...only not spending it sooner. In the end, you'll save money because you won't have to replace it. (That said, it's much cheaper than a lot of worse options.)• The knob on one of the drawers wouldn't screw in far enough to stop spinning a little when used. I used some wood glue - problem solved. I'm sure a slightly longer screw would've done it, too.In short, BUY THIS.I hope other companies realize the brilliance and marketability of multi-piece desks....in light-colored wood. And, even if they don't, I hope this company keeps this product forever. I'm planning to buy a second set next year, so that I'll have one at home and one at grad school (returning student). Shopping for other desks for grad school just reminded me of how cramped, poorly-designed, low-quality, and uncomfortable most desks are.

Excellent set, very functional and nice looking. Arrange any way you want to fit the room. Good quality, and easy to assemble -- doesn't get easier as far as assembly-required furniture of the sort is concerned. All top pieces are pre-assembled, mostly just the legs. The file cabinet takes the most work, but still not bad.The only minor problem I had is that the keyboard tray was a bit loose. After some inspection I realized that it's the side panel was loose. Replaced with stronger screws and now it's perfect. Very prompt and courteous service!Highly, highly recommended.
