The part design is such that it is impossible to properly install on a 1976 Ford LTD 6.6L OEM air cleaner. There simply is not enough clearance for the clip to be installed to the plastic filter housing. Also, the filter material was 1/2 the thickness of the original Motorcraft OEM part.

The filter's 'snout' that sticks through the air cleaner is too short, thus it's impossible to slide the metal clip into it. The filter material itself is about half the thickness of the original filter. And the 'snout' is missing a key that fits into a keyhole in the air cleaner to properly orient it. I'm surprised at this lack of quality as Wix had seemed to be a quality brand in the past. Seems like they tried to make it a universal fit that fell way short of the mark. How sad. Will be returning this. Tsk Tsk Tsk.

Works as intended for a 1977 Mercury Marquis 6.6L, but the retaining clip was chore to secure properly as the stub on this Wix filter housing is slightly shorter than the filter it replaced on my vehicle.
