I liked the quality of the packaging, but it was damaged before it was even sent (it had a chip taken out from the side of one of the wooden press sheets). The press mold was smaller than what I expected, as I should have gotten a 22" mold. Very simple design, so not happy with the overall total price. But I have it now.

wood actually peeling off of surface. Like plywood. Molded easily. Used for hard cheeses

My first head of cheese is already under this press. What can I say? It works, quality seems to be good, it arrived in time. 5 Stars!

If you are interested to start making cheeses, you won’t progress far without a press of some sort. Many people in the cheese-making world make their own and there are all kinds. I didn’t think making one was up my alley so I thought one like this would work for me for a while. I’m starting out with the simplest cheese … a pressed ricotta or paneer. I just want to get the hang of the press before I delve into more complex cheeses. This press takes just a few minutes to assemble. By the time I heated my milk, I basically washed the mold and put the press together. I’ve made paneer before but it always was too crumbly because it wasn’t adequately pressed (I used cans). I’m expecting things to be different this time. Regarding the press, it’s basically two round boards with holes, long screws, bolts and wing nuts. It couldn’t be simpler. The top board in my press has a crack on one side. I assume that it might not withstand 50 lbs of weight, but it is fine for my paneer. I may reach out to see if I can get another board. It came with a mold and a follower. It’s what I expected it would be and what I need. I still have to figure out how you determine what the weight is, but that will be next. Interestingly, it is made in Ukraine.

The only useful thing in this package is the cheese form/mold that it comes with. It is simply 2 round cut plywood pieces, 4 bolts and several nuts. The quality of the cuts and holes on plywood are not so smooth. The metal nuts doubles as the legs are a bad idea on scratchable surfaces. I wish the product had better quality of wood instead of a plywood. The vaxing on the plywood smells funny. I am not sure if this is completely food safe surface. Overall it will do what it supposed to do however the quality and the attention to detail is not there.
