Jumping to the end of the story, does it work? Yes. Is it faster to use the net and do it yourself? Yes. The secret is (whether a house robot vacuum, robot pool vacuum) just let it run and go do other things, the old 'set it and forget it' saying .... because if you watch it, you will a) waste the time you are suppose to be freeing and b) will become frustrated thinking how long will it take? why doesn't it just immediately turn around when it hits the wall? when will it ever get to the other side of the pool ... just walk away and let it run, and appreciate that you got your 10 minutes back to do something else. Unlike the robot pool vacuum, where a lot of the fine dirt that is sucked in just gets blown out the top, you can see all of the pollen / blossoms being sucked right into the unit, nothing spits out (some leakage out the front when it turns around). It works and the solar power is terrific, allowing you to just let it run in the sun, it will get clean, just don't watch it.

I can't say enough about how much I love this skimmer! Now that the weekly yard work is back in full swing with Spring, along comes the debris that gets blown into the pool. In the past, we would have to get out the pool net and clean out the pool manually. However, this Wybot skimmer has changed the game! Now I just set it in the pool and power it on by either the manual power or via the app and off it goes. Come back two hours later and the surface of the pool is cleaned. The skimmer has 4 independent thrusters, two in the back and two on the sides which allow it to turn in place if necessary. Able to identify pool sides or obstructions and easily navigate around them. The basket is large and collects quite a large amount of debris, and has a flip up dam to prevent debris from floating back out once collected. The full top of the unit is one large solar panel which seems to keep the unit amply charged. It does not come with a charge cord, but one can be purchased separately, which would be my only complaint at this price point, it should be included. Although, the solar charge is all I need for my use. The app does not get the greatest reviews probably because the set up is not as flawless as it should be. It was a bit difficult to create an account, as it did not work the first go around and had to change my password to get it to work. However, once set up the app connected easily to skimmer and the skimmer responded perfectly.

I really wanted to like this solar-powered pool skimmer. On paper, the WYBOT F1 looks like a smart, eco-friendly way to keep the surface of your pool clean without constant attention. It promises app control, 24/7 solar operation, and obstacle avoidance—all things that sound great. But in actual use, it doesn’t quite live up to the marketing.Let’s start with the setup. The biggest surprise was that it doesn’t come with a charger. Yes, it has a built-in solar panel, and yes, that’s the preferred way to charge it, but the instructions still say to charge it before first use. The catch is, it doesn’t use a standard charging port. So without the specific DC charger (sold separately), you're out of luck if the solar panel can’t get enough juice—which was exactly my situation. I placed it in the pool alongside another solar skimmer I’ve been using for a while, and while that one kept working just fine under a cloudy sky, the WYBOT died within hours. After that, it just drifted aimlessly around the pool, occasionally getting nudged by the other robot. The solar panel itself is large—24W, which is actually impressive compared to competitors—but it seems very sensitive to sunlight levels. Even on a moderately overcast day, it struggled to hold a charge. There’s no indicator on the unit to let you know how much charge it has, so you’re left guessing unless you go through the app.Speaking of the app—this was another disappointment. It only works on 2.4GHz WiFi, which is pretty common, but worth noting if you have a newer router setup. Once connected, the app gives you basic control options like starting or stopping the robot, checking battery levels, and initiating docking. Now, to give credit where it’s due, the design is sleek and the build quality feels solid. It’s not bulky, and the black-and-orange color combo looks good on the water. The skimmer has a 7-liter debris basket with a 180-micron mesh filter, which is larger than many pool robots. The brushless motor is very quiet. It also has retractable anti-stranding pillars, which are supposed to keep it from getting stuck on pool steps. The idea behind this product is solid—solar-powered, app-controlled, automatic surface cleaning sounds like the future of pool maintenance. But in practice, this model is not quite there. The other robot I have works much better. Between the missing charger, unreliable solar charging in less-than-perfect conditions, and the frustrating app experience, it feels like the execution doesn't live up to its potential.
