The Xbox 360 Arcade System gives you immediate access to the Next-Gen power of high-definition video, DVD movie playback, digital music, photos, online connectivity and of course the great gameplay that Xbox 360 is renowned for, while ensuring that you retain the flexibility to choose additional features to customize your system to your specific needs.

Xbox 360 Arcade bundle with included accessories Under the Hood of Xbox 360
Xbox 360 is much smaller than its predecessor--it measures approximately 3.3 by 12.2 by 10.2 inches and weighs 7.7 lbs. It's powered by custom IBM PowerPC-based CPU with three symmetrical cores each running at 3.2 GHz. It also carries a custom ATI graphics processor with 10 MB of embedded DRAM. This is powerful enough to draw 500 million triangles per second. In other words, it makes for great looking games on standard TVs, and even better looking ones on HDTV sets thanks to built-in support for HDTV (720p/1080i/1080p) resolutions.

The unit has a 12x dual-layer DVD-ROM drive, which plays both the game media and progressive-scan DVD movies right out of the box. For game-save and media storage, Xbox 360 Arcade System users can choose to stick with the Memory Unit included with the bundle, or upgrade to either the detachable or the (both sold separately). Along with storing files, the hard drive will make the Xbox 360 backward-compatible with a large part of the existing Xbox game library.

Control your Gameplay
The Xbox 360 Arcade System comes with one
with rumble. Xbox 360 uses a refined button layout for its controllers. Back and Start buttons sit at the center of the controller and between them is a new Xbox Guide button, which instantly takes the user to the Xbox 360 user "Dashboard" interface. From there, they can check for friends online, access personal digital content like photos songs, and more. The black and white buttons of the first Xbox controllers have been replaced with new shoulder buttons placed above the left and right triggers. The Xbox 360 can accommodate up to four wireless controllers and has three USB 2.0 slots to use for wired controllers or for streaming your digital media from digital cameras, MP3 players, and any Windows XP-based PC. Microsoft has also created a video-conferencing camera, sold separately, that will work with the system.

The Media Experience
All Xbox 360 titles can be played in either standard or high-definition resolution in 16:9 widescreen, with anti-aliasing for smoother graphics. Game designers will be able to take advantage of the system's multi-channel surround sound. The Xbox 360's digital media allows users to supplement any game's music from tracks in their own personal library. Five titles are bundled on a single disc included with the Xbox 360 Arcade System. These are:

  • Feeding Frenzy
  • Luxor 2
  • Boom Boom Rocket
  • Pac-Man Championship Edition
  • Uno
Go LIVE
Xbox 360's built-in Ethernet port allows users to connect their system to the Xbox LIVE service via their broadband connection. Utilize the free Xbox LIVE Silver Membership included with your console or upgrade to a
to create a Gamertag and gamer card to express your online identity, chat live with voice chat (separately sold headset required), and connect to Xbox LIVE Marketplace to download free and premium expansions, maps, game demos, movies, TV shows and other digital content. The separately sold wireless network adapter supports the common 802.11a, -b, and -g standards.

Xbox 360 is the worst ripoff in gaming history. They have their own credit system that is useless as soon as your Xbox breaks--and it will. Just give it time. I'm on my third Xbox now and it just broke on me a month ago. I recently refreshed my Xbox Live Gold subscription and the optical drive no longer works. It will just open disc. I've tried working on it because the warranty is voided and it costs 100 dollars for a repair anyway (might as well wait for another 360 to go on sale). To make the matter even more complicated the new systems are coming out later this year so it's not really worth it for me to replace the thing anyway.Either way I don't want any more Microsoft products. Windows 8 is garbage. Their Xbox is garbage. They try to weasel you into ways to spend your money and not get anything out of it (I have unspent live points and subscription worth more than 100 bucks at this point too). For the longest time they wouldn't even let you use external devices so that you had to use their expensive and bad add-on items that were years behind in terms or storage or performance. They seem to think their Windows Tablet is going to do something on the market too. I laugh every time I see their dancing videos used to promote their "hip" product. What a joke. Microsoft is a joke.

Xbox 360 with game at the time was an excellent value, 360 is still a great value with its established library of games and the ability to buy used games from various retailers

Okay, my previously thought to be bomb-proof Sony PlayStation 3 was sent back to SCEA because of its dead Blu-Ray drive. Of course, it was out-of-warranty, so it cost me $160 to get Sony to send me a new/refurbished one. While waiting, I decided to finally try my luck with the Microsoft XBOX 360 Arcade system. The price was right for this stripped down XBOX. Since I'm primarily a lone gamer (not really into online gaming, but looking forward to getting the XBOX Live membership so that I can stream movies with Netflix), getting all the other accessories didn't make much sense to me. I'm not really into the console flame wars, so I could care less who makes the consoles as long as I like the games that are made exclusively for them. Being a PS3-only gamer made me salivate at TV commercials for Halo Wars and Gears of War 2.Skeptical of its reliability issues and being on the fence since the 360's launch because of them, I finally decided to take the plunge and ordered the Arcade version from Amazon on March 10th and received it on Friday, March 13th. It was shipped from Reno, NV to the SF Bay Area via Free Super Saver Shipping. Now that's quick! Turns out, I received one with a MFR date of 9.29.08 (14.2 a, 175 W power supply). According to what I've read from Amazon reviewers, I did not get a Jasper motherboard 360. At first, I was somewhat disappointed in this fact, but I was willing to give this system a chance. So far, I'm liking what I see. Build-quality seems comparable to other gaming systems. The X-Box Dashboard seems impressive. Although I've only played the games supplied with the purchase and a couple of demo games, I found the graphics quite similar to my PS3 when connected via HDMI to my Sony Bravia XBR. The noise level coming from the console when using the disc drive was noticeable but not overwhelming to me. It also did not feel hot to the touch after usage at all, but then again, I didn't play for six hours straight. I'm not thrilled that the XBOX wireless controllers use disposable or rechargeable batteries. Sure I could go buy a rechargeable battery pack and charge, but the PS3 came with a rechargeable controller. For the XBOX, I had to buy a network adaptor separately. The PS3's network adaptor comes built-in. The XBOX doesn't have a Blu-Ray player, the standard in high definition movies to many videophiles, but since I'm using it solely for gaming, I could care less. Before my PS3 BD drive broke, I used to use it for NetFlix Blu-Rays as well as gaming, but now, when I get my new PS3 back, it'll strictly be used for gaming. Not taking any more chances. In the coming months, I might begin looking for an XBOX 360 60 GB hard drive for more storage. Yep, the PS3 comes with one already. Overall, I've gotten the impression that Microsoft will charge you for every single accessory separately. It is my guess that Mr. Gate's corporation makes more money selling its accessories and online content than from selling the consoles. In conclusion, both the XBOX 360 and the PlayStation 3 have a lot to love and hate. Neither system is completely perfect nor reliable. However, they're both good next-generation multi-media consoles that'll keep you rocking until the next revision comes along. I consider myself lucky that I get to taste the best of both worlds. Now to add XBOX 360 games to my GameFly GameQ...

I ordered this on September 30, 2009 and got it on October 2, 2009. I needed to replace my old 360 due to an E73 message. I saw that I could potentially get a Jasper if I ordered this unit, but I mainly chose this one because it comes with the free games and memory. I am happy to report that the unit I was shipped is a Jasper model, so Amazon is still shipping them out. Good Luck
