Very sturdy. Takes 2 folks to install correctly. Very hefty putting in place but will hold my 59 thrust trolling motor without question. Used a metal place on the inside to reinforce the transom.

It's not completely obvious from the pictures, but the base (the part that attaches to the boat) is too small. I think other reviews have mentioned this as well. I wouldn't trust this to handle a 20hp motor. Maybe a 7.5 hp motor would be fine, but a 20hp motor on a boat tossing around would put waaay too much stress on the boats transom fiberglass due to the small base. If I can find and cut a bigger piece of stainless steel to use as a backer for this, I may keep it. Otherwise will have to look for something a bit more robust.Other than that, it's well made.

This product was just what I was looking forward to replace my old wooden motor mounts on the back of my sailboat. Very easy to install and extremely sturdy. Great quality for a good price.

This bracket looks and feels chunky and superior to thinner stainless steel units. Nice quality and finer touches from the factory machining - nothing sharp or rough. Time will tell how it holds up over the long run.

This works great for my 6hp 4 stroke suzuki mounted as a kicker on my 17ft Tracker Magna. DO NOT TRAILER WITH THIS BRACKET. Has a slight side to side movement, which would probably lead to breakage while trailering. That's why I rated 4 and not 5 star. Up and down movement is pretty solid. Works perfectly while trolling along. I can even steer the boat with my 110hp motor, turned off, in the water. It acts as a rudder and steers pretty well. I've had the boat out twice now with it. Seems worth the money to me.

If you look at photo three, you can see marks from another motor. Not mine. Photo two, shows the missing hardware. The bag had been cut open before I received it. This item had been used and was sold to me as new. Photo one, shows the motor mount cracked at the upper half. I almost lost my motor. I was trolling at the time, at very low speed. Two Stroke 5hp. I'm not sure what "stamped stainless components" are but mine is starting to rust. It's been a frustrating experience . For me it was a big deal to drill holes into my transom. I asked the seller to send me a new unit for parts. They said they would look into it. You can see in photo four how I had two modify the unit to keep fishing. Unless my bracket had been damaged by the previous owner this item could be defective and dangerous. The loss of a motor could be a big deal. I was lucky I had a main motor to get me home. But I will tell you this, as a motor starts to break away. Your first instinct is to grab it. I got bruises and scratches trying to keep the motor stable and out of the drink. God help you if you go overboard holding on to a running motor.

I am using this for my 4 HP kicker/trolling motor on a 17" center console boat. The quality of construction and hardware is impressive. It is perfect for my application by allowing me to tilt the main 90 HP motor all the way us and use the kicker motor in a variety of water depths while keeping the motor in a vertical position. Although it is a bit heavier duty than I needed. it affords me the flexibility to use a 9.9 HP "lake" motor in the future.
