I did not use this 5/16 Inch(8mm) ID x 3/8 Inch(10mm) OD PVC Clear Vinyl Tubing in a traditional way. I cut the tubing into sections to slide over 5/16" stainless steel bolts to insulate them from the aluminum parts they pass through. This prevents galvanic corrosion due to dissimilar metals being in contact with each other and an electrolyte (such as salt water). I used it to mount aluminum boat cleats with 316 stainless steel hardware. The tubing OD is slightly larger than 3/8" so I had to widen the holes using a 13/32" drill bit. With the holes widened to 13/32", the tubing fits and provides excellent insulation between the stainless steel and aluminum.
