The twisty tie comes on a reel and rolls on as far as one needs it. A clever little cutting device at the bottom of the reel lets one choose the length required for the tying up at hand. First, some personal misting equipment with a 26-foot hose. Gathered up in a figure eight, then snipped a long twisty tie. Hose is now conveniently wrapped for the next use. Next, flourishing hydroponic cherry tomatoes, put the tomatoes at the top instead of the middle. The effect became branches of cherry tomato sprawling all over the hydroponics. Three twisty ties later, attached to the light rod and now standing tall, waiting to turn red. Last but not least retrieved my trusty garden bag full of staples, garden nails, and discs for paper mulch. The reel gave the needed length of a twisty tie to hold twelve staples once and twice in formation now. Then another twisty tie gathered up all the garden nails that lay in the bottom of the garden bag, waiting to prick a gardener's fingers. Finally, a twisty tie threaded through numerous disks that hold down paper mulch into one bundle, then secured to the strap in the garden bag. Then the reel of twisty tie found a home in the garden bag pocket. Its next assignments will be twisty tie outside tomatoes when the group becomes tall enough, and then to train melons to stay in a patch area. Innovative cutting tool on the bottom, but be sure to slide the twisty tie all the way in before pressing. Extremely handy during the spring gardening season.

I grew up on a plant nursery and am still a part of that business so I’ve tried a lot of ties. This tie is perfect for loosely attaching light tags to plants, excellent for steadying the stem of a small 4” pot plant (but not for the whole growing season depending on the plant - definitely NOT tomato plants!), and excellent for use with chicken wire as seen in the photo (the type of chicken wire used here is floral chicken wire that is a thinner wire than regular chicken wire). The reason that I used this wire for this purpose is that I don’t want people to see the wire. The wire here is so thin that you don’t see it or the floral chicken wire from a short distance away.It is NOT good for typing up tomato stems because tomato stems get very fat and large, very fast, so that this wire, because that’s how thin it is as you can see by the photos, will strangle and break the stems. The way that the stem is tied in the description photos shows that the person using this wire has no experience with plants and their growth, especially tomatoes. When tying up a plant, one always needs to give space for the stem to get larger as the plant grows.I took these photos for you so that you can see exactly what you’re getting with measurements. You can see in the 3rd photo that this wire is similar in width to a small/medium sized safety pin. And you can see the wire between my fingers in the next photo.I can certainly give this wire 4 stars because it is useful for many things and the price is good for how much wire you receive, but for fragile stemmed plants, it will not work.As far as how long this wire will last, I would guess that it will last a year, maybe more if it’s simply holding up the name tag of a plant. I did a test of bending this wire backwards and forwards and it held up well through at least a dozen bends so that was quite impressive compared to some other kinds of wire that are slightly different in appearance from this one.It looks like there are many sellers of exactly this product so I would advise simply going for the cheapest product IMHO.I hope that this review has helped in some way and here’s wishing you a FANTASTIC GROWING SEASON!🤩🏆🎉

DESCRIPTION:This is a 200 meter (656 feet) spool of green plastic-covered twist tie wire. The spool has a built in cutting tool to allow you to cut the ties to any desired length.————————HOW WE USE IT:We have a large garden and are always tying up tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers which get heavy and stress the vines. We tie them up to various trellis, stakes, and supports. In the past we have used zip ties, string, or anything we could find to do this. We had not seen this type of product before and were anxious to try it out. It is not yet garden season here, so we experimented with some house plants in order to get this review in.There are no instructions other than a picture on the box, but they are not needed. You pull the desired length of wire out through the center of the spool, slide in into the cutter, and press it down.————————PLUS POINTS:1. Generous length of wire! This will easily last a number of seasons in our 2000 sq. ft. garden.2. You can dispense as long a wire as needed.3. The dispenser is easy to use. It can be held in one hand and the cutter pressed with the other hand (see photo).4. The dispenser has a large hanging hole at the top. If it is hanging, you can operate it one-handed. The hole allows you to designate a spot for storage.5. When used with house plants or flowers, the green color blends in with the plants.6. Cutter works by pinching the wire, it is not sharp and therefore safe for kids to use. Kids will find this a fun activity.————————MINUS POINTS:1. When used with vegetables, the green color may be a disadvantage; particularly if you compost your garden waste and need to remove any wires first. The green blends in with the stems and foliage and makes it hard to locate. We compensate for this by adding a short piece of drinking straw (see photo) to improve visibility so we can easily locate the ties. We were wishing this product came in an additional high-visibility (e.g., yellow) color.2. The dispenser is apparently not refillable, but it is just as easy to buy another one at this economical price.————————OVERALL:We are very pleased with this unique product and will put it to regular garden use.

Not great for plants. These ties easily cut into plant stems. When they are tied loosely they work perfectly but they are primarily wire. I used the ties to tie my gardening covers to keep the squirrels out of my gardening bed but they are not great for plants. The width of the toes are fairly thin. They aren’t terrible but they will cut into plant stems and cause damage.
