I like this style of marking gauge because of the work I tend to do on small milled lumber pieces. For me this represents an upgrade to the older pin style gauges. This tool is fairly hefty and seems to have been milled well. The dovetail guide is a nice touch as are the extra marking tips. One thing to note is the width of the base which is over the standard 3/4 board, so when marking thinner stock, a riser board will be needed. Well pleased with the purchase for far.

It's a nice, inexpensive depth marker. I started using it immediately upon arrival. It's accurate and easy to use. The pencil holding option is not something I think I will use, but it's nice to know it's there.

Building jewlery boxes, I needed accuracy to locate and install hinges, mortises and the like onto the wood. This tool has saved me countless amount of time laying out those lines prior to routing or cutting. It comes with two cutters, a pak of small layout pencils, and a micro adjustment. I didn't want to spend a lot of money and tried this one b/c of the price (very reasonably priced) and been using it for about 4 months now and no problems - sure beats using a combination square and knife ! Highly recc. and good value for the money!

What a beautiful gadget! Very well made, nicely packaged. I'm sure I'll get years of use out of it. The machining is wonderful, every peice fits together perfectly.
