Most of the kit is pretty decent for the money. The vise stem locks fairly securely into the table clamp base. However, the Weighted base setup is another matter. There is a fitting that screws into the Weighted base. The vise stem is inserted into the hole of this fitting. But the hole is way too large. No matter how you tighten the thumbscrew, the vise stem can still flop around too much.

Thought I was ordering the set pictured, received a janky vise that doesnt lock in a janky wooden box. The tools are okay, but not special. Overall displeased because I received something far cheaper and of lower quality than what I bought/ paid for. Lets see how the return process works.

The vise is $40, the tools $30, not real sure but that bag isn’t $50. Mine came with missing tools, corrosion on the vise and a chipped jaw. It’s a convenient starter kit if you want to pay almost double for someone else to round it all up for you. Otherwise just buy a Spider and a couple of tools and you have better gear for the same price.

Good deal nice for someone newer learning to tie. Another plus is the ability to carry everything with you for travel.

This is a nice kit with all the tools you need to tie on the road. The case is well padded and not to big to pack. There is some room left to pack a few materials. I opted to use a bigger case that I had to pack more materials. The down side to that is the larger case is almost to big to pack and will need to be carried separately. The vise is good, I wouldn't say great but it has been working so far. I like the fact that it has a base and a C clamp. I prefer the C clamp but that doesn't work everywhere. To qualify this a bit I am a new tier with not much experience.

I purchased this kit because I was looking for a reasonably priced rotating vice. I am happy to report that this kit has exceeded my expectations! Compact but all inclusive! Everything functions as expected. The kit is easy to travel with. I highly recommend.

I Recently (about 8 weeks ago) started participating in fly tying classes thru the "Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing" program offered at the local VA medical clinic in Green Bay Wisconsin. It is a great program and has been of great help to many veterans (myself included). I have been searching for my own fly tying equipment for several weeks and found this one to be pretty much just what I was looking for. It is exactly as shown and described in the advertisement. While it is not the same as the more expensive models $350 to, as much as, $3000, It is actually a very good rotary vise and is Built well. It comes in a very sturdy travel case that is padded well enough to protect everything inside from a lot of banging around.all of the tools are well made as well. most of the tools look like they are made of real brass and other sturdy metal parts. I am very pleased with the whole set and took it to my tying class today where the whole body of instructors and the other students all flocked around to check it out. Everyone wanted to know where I found it and how much it cost. When I told them Amazon for $120, they all got excited and told me that I had found a great deal. I am pretty sure that I just made some new sales for Amazon. While this will likely be replaced in a few years by one of the more high-tech models, I will be keeping this one around as my travel system forever! Thank you, Amazon! Thank you, Creative Angler! I love my "Zephr Travel Fly Tying Kit"!
