This is a pretty solid rebar kit, especially for someone who has little to no experience working with Rebar. The Pliers are great, the spools are well-built, and the wire stays in place.

It is always a little difficult working with a roll of tie wire when I am tying rebar, or using it for other purposes. It is way too easy to have it get tangled and kinked, or even put into a knot. So, I was happy to have the opportunity to give this tie wire spool a try. I am glad I did. First, it came with a roll of steel tie wire. That is a nice way to get started. However, since the wire roll was already installed, I was able to actually feel right out of the box how much it weighs when it is loaded for work. It is pretty darned heavy. It also came with some wire snips. Most other wire spools don’t include these helpful items. So, that is a bonus. The spool itself is well-built and it performs well. It keeps the wire spool in good shape, and it feeds the wire cleanly. Putting in a new spool of wire is clean and easy too. In the time saved alone, this wire spool accessory is a very good value.

The aluminum wheel reel does contain the tie wire very well. The wire feeds out of the spool nicely. The aluminum wheel is pretty solid and should last a good while. It is a cast material and any hard drop onto a concrete or rock surface will cause it to break. It is kind of bulky as well and makes handling it a little cumbersome. It does have a couple of wide belt slots so you can fasten it to a tool belt.

This is a good container for baling wire. If you're like me, you use baling wire quite a lot for any number of reasons and it is a bit difficult to keep it tidy; the spool wants to unwind and go everywhere. This gadget helps keep the wire spool under control. The wire fits inside and there are two windows through which you can dispense the wire. The container is heavy cast aluminum. The lid has a crank on it to help reel the wire back in if you dispense too much. I suggest you bend a hook into the wire when you're down with it and use the hook to catch the edge of the dispensing window so the loose end of the wire stays where it's easy to get the next time you need it. This thing does have a couple of odd design choices though. The back of it has belt loops, but that is not too useful to me because I personally find this is far too heavy and bulky to actually hang on a belt, even a tool belt with suspenders. Also, I don;t need belt hangers because I don't use this for a living, just occasionally. Instead of the belt slots, I wish it had a place to attach a hook or carabiner to hang it. As it is, it's not really practical to hang it up for storage and so it needs to rest on a shelf or in a drawer. Also, the lid screws on and off, but the center bolt on which it is fastened is only held in place by the resistance of the wire spool inside. So when you want to loosen or tighten the lid, you need to hold the spool in place through the windows to keep it from rotating. The inner end of the spool of wire need to be bent and hooked on one of the projection on the spindle to make this thing work correctly. There are no instructions, so figuring it all out takes a bit of trial and error. So I'll give this thing four stars because it works, but has some odd design choices that make it less useful than it could be and it has no instructions. Four stars.

It's a spool holder. It, um, holds a spool. Yup. Nailed it. This worked well. It was easy to remove and install the cover/lid to load with a spool of tie wire. It has belt passages which allow it to be easily threaded onto a belt. Yeah, pretty simple, hard to mess that up. They didn't mess it up. That it came with a roll of wire was a bonus. I wouldn't, however, use the pliers for tying rebar. The "real" pliers for such work are actually well-designed. Channelock or Klein with the bent tip of one handle are recommended.
