I suppose none of these meters would meet any kind of IP standard for waterproofness, and this one is no exception. If it is going to be waterproof for even a limited time, you are going to have to do it. The ring is base metal so good luck in a marine environment and if you think the rubber gasket at the back is going to seal the workings, I have bridge for sale. The other funky thing is the tenths measurement. They somehow think that someone would be interested in a hundred decimal point but they display it in a way that is misleading. I would like a truly water proof one with honest tenths of an hour of measurement, but have not found it yet. And this is not it. I will install it, but like all the others I expect it will fail quickly.It failed one day after the 30 days. Does not work. Do not buy.
