Most wire saws are pretty fragile and only saw a few times before they break, these are inexpensive but seem fairly rugged, I was able to cut a couple of small logs for firewood with no apparent damage to the wire saw.Certainly me fairly small folding saw cuts better and without binding, but it is much more bulky and heavier than this tiny saw. You could probably even fit one in your wallet, and they are perfect for small survival kits or even inside a mint tin. These are more comfortable to use than the ones which come with keyrings on the ends.A word about technique though - if you wrap it under the log and pull up with your hands, it will bind right away and sometimes it is hard to get it unstuck. To avoid this I propped up the log and sawed down with the wire and at a wider angle. The wider the angle you use the less likely it is to bind. I think that in a survival situation the best approach would be to use it to cut a couple of sticks and lash them up into a bow saw. Then the wire would be completely straight and cut much better.No complaints though, functional, very compact and inexpensive.

Always nice to have a pocket sized handy tool at the ready. I use these in my toolbox for various things. They will cut through plastics woods, and even some light metals, aluminum etc. Work well when you are in a tight space or just to have something in your pocket that can cut something.
