I'm a plumber and use cutters like these almost every day. I've had cheap plastic ones and ratchet ones in the past and they never seem to last. Ridgid have outdone themselves with these cutters. They have a spring back mechanism so there's no fiddling about with one hand trying to open the cutters, the blade is sharp and can be removed to be sharpened or replaced. Has a locking clasp to keep them shut while storing them. They are on the pricier side but I would definitely recommend them over cheaper alternatives.

I built my house 3 years ago. Did most things, including the plumbing which used PEX water pipes for both hot and old. This little tool provided an easy way to cleanly cut PEX to needed lengths. If you are plumbing a house, I would highly recommend buying this tool. Even for small jobs, it is portable & affordable enough.

Good tool. It advertises that it's good for cutting multilayered hose. I bought it to cut nylon air brake hose and it does not do a good job at cutting it. Was disappointed in that respect but it is a quality tool.

I would not recommend this product. I was using it to cut aquatherm multi layered pipe. They are awkward on bigger sizes and it takes a lot of effort to cut through the pipe. On the smaller size (22mm) it cuts about 90% of the way then stops and you have to turn the pipe to cut the final 10%. Also you don't get a straight cut. Very disappointed with Ridgid as i'd expect more especially as they are double the price of most of the other lesser known brands and not as good and they are not even ratchet.

Paying for quality never goes out of style and this is worth the few extra dollars! Easy to use, cuts like advertised, made with superior materials.

These cutters are the toughest out on the market. You’ll be cutting pipe for years if you don’t lose them first. Be ready to work those wrists though cuz when they start to dull you’ll have to give that pipe a twist. Strongest and longest lasting on the market. Strong enough to reclaim unpaid for material or even even take a greedy builders toe off right through his steel toed boots.

I used this cutter to make a good 20 or 30 cuts in Pex supply lines. It works flawlessly. The Pex lines I was working with were 1/2" and the blade slipped through them like butter. Hardly any resistance. I haven't used the cutter for anything thicker as of yet, but I'm confident it will do it's job when the time comes.I read another review about keeping the grips locked when not in use - which is a good suggestion - otherwise the spring leaves the blade open and ready to cut. While I was working, I reached for this tool several times without remembering to lock it and almost paid the price.

I'm someone who uses these cutters all the time for cutting pex piping. Until I purchased this product I had been using a cheaper cutter that required precision and sometimes multiple attempts until I got the right cut.Why is it important to get a cutter that gets the cut right the first time? Well, when you're rolling out tens of meters of piping for new construction it's not so much of a problem. But when you're making a repair on an existing line you'll get yourself in a bind if you end up cutting off too much pipe to get it right! And sometimes you're holding the cutter sideways and in certain angles that makes it hard to get a precise cut. With these Ridgid cutters, due to the design of the cutter and and the blade (on my other cutters the blade wasn't set so well -- which was half the cause of the issues) you get a great cut with no skill required.I also like that it doesn't ratchet. Never liked the ratchet ones.

I really wanted to like this cutter: 1. Made by Ridgid 2. Non ratcheting 3. Solid build 4. PrettyBut the reality: 1. Harder to start cuts compared to various ratchet cutters 2. Difficult to finish cuts because the handles come so close together my hand runs out of leverage.I will go back to the Genova cutters I was using before.
