What a great gift. Sturdy and a pleasure when viewing slides

This film scanner is the answer to my negative storage problem. The 5" screen is nice and clear and I can actually edit during the scanning process. If you want, you can hook up to a bigger screen with a USB. There are different adapters to use with different negative sizes and the process is so easy! I recommend to anyone who worries about how to store negatives.

I can see details in the piece of film, holding it in my hand but when I scanned the image, it does not show the detail I can see.The scanner is easy to work with but does not provide the detail I need.

Think I can let the photos do the speaking for themselves regarding the quality of the scans. Even using the "24mp" scan settings, the photos came out horribly pixelated. The scans I had done when the film was original developed are not as high in resolution, yet I can blow them up much larger with a lot less distortion than the scans I did with this scanner at normal size and no scaling. I know it was only $100, but I was expecting it to be better than a cheap $20 scanner. If this was $20, well worth it. This is not a $100 scanner.I am bumping it up to 2 stars only because of how incredibly easy it was to use. I didn't have to read the instructions and just plugged it into my computer with a USB-C cable I already had plugged in. Did the scans and then pulled them off as if they were from a SD card. The file sizes are only a few megabytes in size. Which is hilarious considering that this is supposed to be a 24mp scanner. My DSLR is only 20mp, but it's photos are closer to 30mb in size. If I had to guess based on the scans I've done, this is more than likely a 4mp sensor and the software on the device upscales it to "24mp."Oh...and it has dead pixels on the sensor right out of the box. I noticed it on the screen of the scanner, but thought that the screen was bad. Which I would have been ok with if the scans came out decent as it only is used for lining up the film internally. If you look at my forehead, nice big dead pixel. Which is why I'm leaning more toward this being a 4mp sensor based on how large the dead pixel is. If it was a 24mp sensor, it would be barely noticeable. One more thing...it crops your 35mm film. You can compare the two photos I've uploaded to see how much cropping it did. The tray fully exposed the picture with a healthy border around it, but this scanner cropped it quite a bit as seen.Guess moral of the story is, just let the professionals scan your film even if it costs a few bucks extra. You'll pay more over the years, but you will be a lot happier with the results. Sadly, this scanner is going back. Maybe I'll try my luck with one of the Kodak scanners?

This is such a great little device! I previously worked in a photo lab and would often scan customer slides and negatives into digital format. I no longer work there, and recently discovered a box of old 35mm and 110 negatives in my parents basement (as well as a handful of slides). I looked into having these converted and nearly had a heart attack - the cost to digitize everything was quoted in the hundreds of dollars. Even worse, most photo labs outsource the work which requires mailing everything off and hoping it gets returned. For irreplaceable negatives and slides, I just wasn’t comfortable with taking that risk. This is where this negative scanner comes in! For the price, it couldn’t be beat. I was sold on the convenience of scanning my own negatives and not risking losing or damaging them by sending them for someone else to scan. The 5” screen is big enough to clearly see the scanned image and to quickly apply any edits needed (like rotating sideways images). The color and brightness was better than expected, and the speed of saving images to the device made it easy to process my whole box of negatives. The included adapters worked well for the various negatives/slides, and I appreciate the built-in memory and easy transfer to my computer when I was done. The included HDMI cord also made it easy to export the images to the TV so my kids could enjoy the pictures as well. The 24MP picture quality looked great on the big screen, much better than expected considering the age of the negatives.Overall I’m really happy with this negative scanner in quality, convenience and value. Our favorite features were the built-in memory, bright 5” display and built-in image editing tools.

Does the job; instructions for the various buttons are a bit vague, and just very clutchy, putting one slide in at a time. Took hours to go through our family photos. And we haven't got a huge pile of photos to go through.

It does have a nice clear picture of even very old negatives ... but the tray for 110 negatives did not work at all, and the tray for 126 negatives had to be pried open. It also would not download on my computer - be aware of what operating systems it will work on - old out- dated systems.

It is compact with few buttons to push. I could not connect it to my desktop computer because it only has an HDMI cable. I connected it to my laptop but could not get it to send the images to the screen. It has some internal storage but I haven't been able to figure out how to download them.
