For STC series microcontrollers, if you want to download ISP, you must receive the serial command from STC-ISP software during power on reset before starting to execute the ISP program, that is, cold start download. If using a regular USB to TTL serial port downloader, it is necessary to manually power off and then on the STC microcontroller. Frequent manual operation may not be convenient enough. Therefore, using this module can eliminate the trouble of frequent manual power-off and power-off of STC, and automatically download the program for power-off and power-off. When not used for downloading STC programs, it can be used as a regular serial port module. Introduce RTS and DTR flow control pins, the module is compatible with 5V/3.3VTTL level communication. These serial port adapters add a bit of convenience with automatic download and programming of STC MCUs. A nifty feature indeed. They also work as standard CH340 serial adapters for other purposes (ESP32/8266 in my case). No complaints from me.

Upon plugging these in to two different Linux computers and a MacOS one, being sure to have the CH340 driver installed, nothing was actually detected. In addition, the soldering of connectors was incomplete: three of four pins were completely free of solder, so wouldn't have worked even if the chip was detected.
