Heard about these, but never used one. Then I found myself with three guitars that needed the ends of the frets dressed. So I purchased this to try. On the initial setup, you have to screw the screws into the block. WORD OF CAUTION - Because the screws are at different angles be careful not to cross-thread them and I would NOT use a power driver on them. Since my frets had been initially dressed at a factory, I used the fine toothed side of the file to finish them. There are some decent instructions included with this tool including how to use the tool. It only took about 3 passes on each side of the neck at each angle to complete each guitar. Time-wise, it took about 10 minutes per guitar. These necks feel great now and this tool is a very welcome addition to my Luthier tools. This is a quality mad tool that I would definitely recommend. I'd purchase it again.

Very good tool. Fits a progressive angle for filing. Curve helps maintain position on neck. Competitive pricing.

I love the fact it has 4 different very usable angles. The set screws are a bit wonky but and the wood seems a bit out of kilter, but I still am still finding it a very useable tool for my small guitar tech. business. Quality control is not the best.

I wouldn’t use this on 2k Fender, but it helps smooth out a cheaper Squier, for example. You will still need to do some file work with additional tools but this does the bulk of the heavy lifting of the rough work.

Great gift! I have a friend who plays guitar. The quality of this wood block is very good. It completes the job more expeditiously than filing one fret at a time. Easier maintenance! Work smarter, not harder. Would recommend.

I picked this up because I like to see how good I can make 'budget' guitars look and sound with a proper set-up and upgrades. As anyone who purchases these cheaply constructed instruments knows, sharp and poorly cut frets can be a common and uncomfortable (sometimes painful) problem unless you buy guitars that have "ball end" frets (which come with their own issues). So fixing sharp frets is an issue that frequently needs to be addressed. As a YouTube inspired amateur hobbyist (NOT a trained luthier), I've done this a number of ways, ranging from cheaply made sets of files that come with low cost "luthier tool kits" to mid-range files purchased at my local hardware store. The process is about the same regardless, and the challenge of getting the angle right and consistent up and down the fretboard is the same. This tool makes it a lot easier to stay consistent and to do neat work without damaging the underlying wood. The only thing detracting from 5 stars is the fact that the long surface of the wood block, i.e., the part that rides across the frets as you work, is contoured for only one specific fretboard radius on one side and is relatively flat on the other. This means the tool, while better than using hand files, still doesn't fit the fretboard like a glove unless you own that specific radius. This is not a big issue unless you intend to use this tool on an expensive instrument that needs to be perfect, and again, it's better than doing it with a manual file, but it is a drawback.
