I recently came into a couple of 500 watt spot lights. While their housings are cast aluminum, they are still quite heavy when compared to my studio strobe lights, so I bought these to allow attaching to my studio ceiling lighting supports. The strobes do well with 1/4"-20 size, but these spot lights needed stronger for safety, so these larger beam clamps with 3/8" - 16 hardware are what I decided that I needed to hang these spot lights. Though not actually put into use yet, I am not expecting any problems.

The ability to stick these on a baby pin and connect anything with a 3/8's is a nice tool to have. I use mine to connect a small production monitor or wireless video receiver.These are high quality metal and can hold even semi heavy items in my thinking. These are a must for the camera assistant, key grip to have in your bag of tricks!

I bought a similar item “¼ inch model” from Neewer. The Neewer product was fine, but I wanted a more sturdy model with a ⅜ inch screw. Wow, this is so much more heavy than Neewer, and with a larger wing tightener too.

They may not be quite as robust as the Manfrotto light stand converters that have been around for years but they performs equally as well and for a much better price. You get three of these Alluneitter adapters for the price of one from Manfrotto.The all-metal adapter locks down tightly to the top of most light stands and has a plastic tightening knob. It's sturdy and reliable and at ⅓ the price of the Manfrotto, it's a bargain.
