Wow! This toaster is a delight to use! I was worried the screen looked complex, but I was able to make full use of it instantly without even reading the instructions. Just select the type of bread and the shade of darkness and you're good to go. And, the toasted bread exactly matches what you selected, just perfectly every time.I tried the defrost function with two pieces of frozen bread, and it added time to the toasting and they came out just perfect. Speaking of which - having a countdown timer on the toaster is a game changer. I can now time things so that my eggs and toast are done at the exact same time. I love knowing exactly when the toast will be done and exactly how much time is left.When the toaster is plugged in and turned on, the touch screen looks bright and colorful. This is fine while you're using it but it looks a little busy to have on your counter all the time. Which is why I was happy to discover that the touch screen goes black after a couple minutes, and then it looks really minimalist and stylish on the countertop.Some people have said something about a smell, but mine didn't have any. The toaster comes with a manufacturer's note to run the toaster empty for one cycle to burn the smell off before putting bread in it. But I followed the instructions and ran it empty, and there was not even the slightest hint of a smell at all. So, this is just not a problem.All in all, I absolutely love this toaster, not only because of the fun touch screen, but because it truly makes absolutely excellent toast to the exact shade that I want.

The first product I received had a large dent in the side and that side of the toaster didn't work. The outer box was undamaged, so the toaster was packaged that way at the factory. Thankfully, Amazon did a quick replacement.This is very lightweight, which is appreciated since I put it away between uses. The controls are intuitive and easy. I especially like the countdown timer.The "Defrost" feature adds 20 seconds to the time, which is helpful because I store my bread in the freezer. The "Warm" feature is a 30 second cycle. I'm not sure how often you'd need that feature; I was hoping that it would help soften stale bread, and it does a little bit, but that probably needs a little longer time.This is a really nice toaster in a lot of ways, but there is a noticeable difference in the darkness of each side. Not egregiously so, but it's a consistent difference. Using the single slice setting seems to make it worse. It's not enough keep me from recommending this toaster, though.

At first, I thought the display on this toaster looked a little odd. It throws you off to see pictures on a toaster when you are just used to looking at a dial. Welcome to the 21st century! Upgraded from an old stainless steel 2 bay to this, the mac daddy of toasters with 4 slots and enough options to satisfy anybody! Not just simple toast also includes bagel, waffle and even gluten free toast settings!When it's first plugged in, it blinks for a bit and then finally settles down, turns off the display and just leaves the cancel buttons lit on each side. Much better! Just hit the cancel button on the side you'd like, and it comes to life. The other thing I now love is after you choose your settings and start the toast process, there is a timer. Who knew I needed this option in my life?! Now I find myself obsessively watching the timer, waiting for the toast to be done instead of just popping up and scaring you! It's just like making waffles at a hotel breakfast iron, except there is no beep.Also of note, there is a sticker on the top telling you how to remove the smell with the first use, but I didn't notice a smell at all. The stainless-steel brush on this is nice, it's a good addition to the countertop. It might be a little overpriced, if it's on sale I'd say go for it.Added: I didn't notice this, but the cord is on the right side instead of the back. Doesn't make a huge difference, since it's long enough to place anywhere, but is a bit odd.

I have paid top dollar for name brand toasters only to be disappointed in performance. This toaster is a whole other story.Initially I wasn't sure looking at the control board wondering if this was more a gimmick then an advance in technology. First use answered that question fast. Essentially each two slice compartment has separate control over how toasted you want your bread by selecting one of 8 shade density icon--AND-- imputing the type of bread or item to be toasted. Surprisingly accurate. Not does it adjust the toasting time --which by the way is shown with a counter of time remaining-- but it account for the item. So a bagel gets toasted only on the cut side, not on the baked side. You can chose single slice as well, and other modes which includes defrost and reheat..Looking on the inside to the heating elements this is the first toaster ever that ALL the elements work. Normally at least one or two heat elements are pressed against the board effectively shorting them out. But the method used here makes each element the same length and having the same heat capacity making for a uniform heating.The profile is compact and has a minimal footprint making it unobtrusive on the kitchen counter.Lastly, all these factor make this very fast, at least twice as fast as my Name Brand toaster it replaces.At $79.99 this is worth all the money. I RECOMMEND.
