Everything about this POANES 42 Nut and Bolt Thread Checker is industrial-strength. It is made on a thick metal background and includes all the most common SAE and METRIC sizes. It has four rubber feet, so it sits stably on a workbench, and the backplate has convenient cutouts for hanging it. I tested it with some nuts and bolts, and it is very accurate in its sizing of them. It's a fantastic addition to any tool room, and I couldn't be happier. It should last for many years.This product is offered at a reasonable price, and I highly recommend it.

This is way nicer than I was expecting. Thick aluminum plate with rubber bumpers to keep it from scratching or getting scratched. Has most of the common threads that people will need. I was unable to check all of the threads, but the few that I did worked flawlessly.This is one of those super handy tools that is great to have sitting on your workbench. Even if you only need it a few times. Highly recommended if you are in the market for this type of thing.

Someone once said there is nothing more frustrating than going to the toolbox and repeatedly returning with the wrong wrench – fetching wrong wrenches. The words ‘quality made’ and ‘industrial grade’ are printed at the top. I agree, this is a tool that could last a lifetime. I'm a real DIY guy like many others are and have to deal with the nuts and bolts of life a lot. But eyeballing a nut or bolt for size or thread type is not always as accurate as you would like it to be and can waste much time when you are off. This is the easiest way to "fast size right" any nut or bolt quickly and without causing any damage by tightly turning the wrong thread size or type into something that then can cause more wasted time and money to fix. This is a visually attractive, easy to read and use system that will last you a lifetime and pay you back many times over the purchase price in time savings alone. Great addition to your tool collection.

This review is for the Poanes 42 Nut and Bolt Thread Checker with 19 Standard & 15 Metric & 8 Drill Bit Gauge, Bolt Size and Nut Size Identifier Gauge (Inch and Metric).I’m excited to receive this for two reasons: 1) to help me organize the multitude of nuts, bolts, and drill bits that I have whether in standard inch or metric sizing and 2) to help me when I have to replace something. Knowing what it is that I’m looking for when I get to the hardware store saves me time. Sometimes the store has something similar to this to use and sometimes it’s missing. The red makes it easy to locate.It’s pricy at about $40, so I hope it’s worth the difference over the competitors, and that it will last and last.

This piece is well made from a thick, sturdy aluminum base, with the lettering etched into the surface and then painted. The lettering as kind of small, but clearly readable with the white letters on a red background. The spacing between the various studs and holes in the sheet is just right. The 4 little feet on the underside help it to not slide around too much in use.I dumped out my "junk jar" of screws, nuts and bolts and began to sort them quickly into sizes. This piece made it very easy to do. Metric on the left, imperial on the right. No complaints.It has holes where you can mount it to the wall, but I think I want the flexibility to take it with me to the job.I did not have an efficient way to sort screws, nuts and bolts in the past. This is just what I needed.

I've spent plenty trips to the hardware store bringing screws/nuts/bolts to use in their thread size board, which many times is all beat up and cross-threaded and crappy. It is so much nicer to do it at home, know what you need, and not even need to bring it to the store to size it. This takes all the common metric/SAE smaller sizes, and puts it ready to go for you in a nice, all metal setup. It is also designed better than another one I have that is a lot longer. This hangs easily on the side of my toolbox with some cheap magnet hooks. I'm glad to have this!
