Embrace nature's solution to our emerging water shortage-collect rainwater. When drought sets in and rain is short, rain barrels can provide that precious water you need for your lawn and garden. Our authentic oak barrel texture is molded into each barrel and will not fade or rot. The RTS Accents rain barrel has many unique features including a flat back to sit flush against a wall, linkable to other rain barrels for increased capacity, screen to keep out debris and a shut off valve for hose hook up with dual overflow. This rain barrel can provide up to 50 gallons of pure unchlorinated water. During heavy rain falls, a typical roof can produce hundreds of gallons of water and by saving that water, you can reduce your average water usage. With those kinds of savings, this rain barrel can pay for itself in just a few seasons. A front side overflow keeps water from flooding against your outside wall. It is recommended that you drain your barrels when temperatures approach the freezing point. Optional barrel stands create a larger offset between the spigot and the ground, making it easier to fill watering cans and for general use.

After several years, they're still in great shape. In winter, I empty them and turn them over. The only complaint I have is that the screens have to be replaced after two years as they get grungy and separate from the frame.

Purchased as it was to include a stand. When opened, only the rain barrel was inside the box.

this rain barrel is ideal to install in narrow walkways. I had a previous round barrel that interfered with foot traffic due to its diameter. This barrel was perfect for my install since it sits flush against my home and the rain gutter is perfectly aligned with the rain barrels opening. No need for any downspout add-ons. Also high marks for the color and finish of the product. For a plastic product, It does a pretty good job of imitating a wine barrel. Installation was a snap, no leaks and all the hardware was adequate.

My only surprised when getting the barrel out of the box is that the back of the barrel is flat [the front radius is 10 3/8", while the back radius is 6 3/4"]. I assumed (incorrectly) the barrel was fully round--like a whiskey or wine barrel--but not a biggie, other than a few gallons of storage space being lost. On the other hand, I understand the concept of the flat back smoothly flushing against the wall. The construction is molded hard plastic with wood and metal hoops textured in. Pretty slick. Some of the reviews I read complained about the seams being off center or too noticeable--and other irrelevant, petty criticisms! I look at it from an utilitarian point of view and the barrel is just fine. After all is a rain container and not a piece of art! So, the magnifying glass stays in the drawer and the fine nit-picking is not required. My barrel came with a heavy duty brass spigot (some reviewers complained about theirs coming with a plastic one--despite of advertised a brass). You need to be careful when installing the spigot to make sure you do not strip the barrel thread. They actually recommend to lay down the barrel flat on its back to install. Also get a wrench to gently twist it in place because your hand will not do the trick. Nice 3.5" x 15" screen on the top to keep bugs and rubbish. So, all in all, very satisfied with the purchase--which also includes the barrel stand.

My wife decided to get the house painted, so I had to remove the old nasty gutters in advance.Post-painting, of course I had to get some new gutters up. Decided to try to be a little eco-minded and save the rainwater for watering plants on the patio and nearby. These plastic faux whisky barrels looked like just the ticket. Available in many colors and levels of quality - one common thread seemed to be that neither Lowe's nor Home Despot keeps them in stock and ordering them in takes 2 weeks.Queue Amazon.com - my "go to" source for oh so many things these days. Since I have been a Prime member since pretty close to when they first rolled it out, I knew I would be able to find something to be shipped quickly and free. Of course I found quite a few listings for "rain barrel" and filtered to only Prime-eligible items. Since the house is now tan, I was looking for a light-colored piece and found it. This RTS Home Accents barrel is a 50-gallon (as opposed to the big stores' 40-gal model) and comes with a nice aluminum and mesh inflow filter screen and a brass spigot to hook up to your hose. A flat back allows you to put it right up against the house so you don't need as many elbows in teh downspout. The (Chinese, I assume) molded plastic barrel is exactly what you expect and was closer in color to my house than I could have hoped for. My wife plans to paint the "metal bands" black for realism, which I think will look very nice. Be very careful screwing in the brass spigot, the threads are not clean and you could cross-thread it if not really precise. It was only $99 when I placed the order on Thursday night, so I opted for the $3.99/item one-day shipping, expecting to get it Monday morning. I planned to measure my downspout to be ready for the arrival. Imagine my surprise to see the FedEx guy pull up as I am installing the first run of gutter. I was able to complete the job Saturday morning without issue (save the usual cuts from the aluminum gutter edges) and will probably buy more of these (when the prices come back down!).I highly recommend this item but how Amazon or FedEx could have possibly made money on this deal escapes me!
