The mesh on these screens is very fine so they are useful not only to keep out rodents, but also to stop insects like roaches from penetrating openings. We have an exhaust fan on our cooktop that vents down and out through a pipe that is about 18” off the ground outside. It has a one way flap that we assumed was keeping everything out, but I never really examined it before I got these screens. As it turns out there was plenty of room for bugs of all sorts to enter our house through the pipe. I don’t know whether they could get past the blower, but I’m glad to be able to install a more effective barrier to hopefully keep everything out. For our set up I used a few sheet metal screws to fasten the screen over the opening, thereby allowing the flap inside the pipe to continuing doing its job. The steel mesh should hold up for a long time preventing intruders of all sort from getting into the house.

The Mwrenqei “6 PCS Stainless Steel Wire Mesh Sheet 20 Mesh Wire Mesh Screen Woven Metal Screen Mesh Fine Rodent Mesh for Cover Air Bricks and Air Vents Preventing Mice Mouse Insects Squirrel” is a good quality stainless steel wire mesh. The screen is tight enough to keep out bugs and rodents. The six screens are approximately 8” X 6”.
