The engine on my Coleman powermate would start and then shut down. I thought it was a problem in the original carburetor. I took the carburetor off and cleaned it. I put it back on, It did the same thing. The price was good on the rebuilt carburetor so I bought it. It would start and then shut right down after a second or two. With further troubleshooting I found that the low oil sensor was defective. I replaced the oil sensor, the new carburetor would not come up to the proper RPMs. They kept backfiring out the exhaust and shutting down. At this point I put the original carburetor on that I had cleaned, the engine ran to full RPMs and made the desired power. I WOULD LIKE A REFUND!

There was no documentation related to a mixture setting but I assumed it was set approximately correct.I tried B12 cleaner, ran new fuel line and even removed and physically cleaned to jets with no change. At that point I realized that the high speed mixture was controlled by the nut (also the jet) and loosening that up a bit. I was able to make the mixture more rich and all is good now.

Hubby says great value for the money. Carburetor seems to be good quality and within spec. Install was easy and engine started right up. He had to adjust for RPM's and was good to go. Too soon to rate for durability.

I have a Coleman Powermate 5000 generator (10 HP Tecumseh engine) and haven't started it in at least 8 years. I decided to see if I could get it to start or throw it out. The gas had been sitting there for those 8 years and the gas valve was also left on. Anyway, I drained the old gas out and replaced the carburetor. There were just a few modifications that were necessary and mainly I just needed to bore a larger hole so the throttle linkage could fit. Just used a screw and widened the hole. The carburetor was really easy to put on. The engine started on the second pull and runs great. Easy!

My brother-in-law inherited a 5000 watt generator. It has been sitting in a barn for years. Unable to start it, I asked if I could try. After changing fuel and oil. Cleaned up the plug, it started and ran rough. Carb cleaner and filter would cost as much as this complete kit. All parts fit perfectly and now the generator starts with half a pull.Came right away and all installed in under 30 minutes.All ready for the next power outage.Dan.

Coleman Powermate Generator had low idle surging I could not fix with everything I found on YouTube so I gave up and bought this. Worked perfect runs smooth fixed my issue very happy. I did have to drill out a hole so my throttle return spring linkage would fit and had to bend the choke arm so it fit through the cover. The spark plug is random so don’t count on that. Worth the money! Will just replace next time vs trying to clean trouble shoot drill out low speed jet.

I bought this carb to replace the original unit on my older Powermate 6250 generator. I inherited the generator from my father and it had been sitting unused for so long that the gas had completely gummed up inside the tank, lines, and carb. The generator just could not run because it couldn't get even a sip of fuel. After cleaning out the fuel tank and replacing all the fuel line, I installed this carb and a new air filter and, bam!, fired right up. The idle is smooth and there appear to be no fuel-related issues. Great value for the money!
