I replaced a very old (25-30yo soldering iron) and the SI012 Pro is so nice to have. Heats up quickly, easy to operate, easy to see screen. It's super easy to bump the temp up or down, depending on what I'm doing, and just works. I should have upgrade years ago.

I first bought this iron to take with me when I fly drones. Now I use it on my lab bench exclusively. Gets hot fast and has plenty of heat for larger components.

This is the best portable iron I've been looking for.First order was defective (not waking up from sleep) the seller issued new one and it works perfectly as expected. (Great seller too, always responses to any of your questions).I been over 22yrs in soldering field, all kinds...wiring, SMT, PCB, PGA. Here's my recommendation for temperature settings:Cable/wiring: 660-680FGeneral PCB/SMT: 680-700F (depends on the size of your tips)For PGA/Chip/Low switches/Controller/ surface mount on fine tip, I'll stay 700-720F. I found 710F works best for me.Quick advice:When you receive this soldering iron, do not adjust anything (leave default) and turn it on until it idle/sleep (5min by default)Lift it up to see if it wakes up. If not, contact seller for replacement. Otherwise it should wake up instantly from lifting.Overall, I am happy with the product and seller. I highly recommended.

I use soldering irons almost every day, the kind I don't see myself buying because of price. This soldering is sturdy quality and operates just like one of the expensive ones! I was very surprised of the ease of use and operation. Definitely recommend to others!

I probably use this small portable soldering iron more than my soldering station. Super portable and really easy to change tips. If I were you I would get a cheap soldering kit as well if you are just starting out but for the price really good quality.

The USB-C power input works great if you have a brick with a high enough wattage. The included power supply is a heavy beast, which is a strange choice for portability. There is no connector of any kind for use with a battery, just plug-in connectors. Most USB-C backup batteries (like those used to top off a phone when out and about) are nowhere near powerful enough to run this soldering iron. It maxes out at 65W, and most of the portable Lithium batteries only support the lowest end of voltage and current PD standards. So, if you want to make this portable, you'll need to jury rig your own batteries and barrel connector. It takes anywhere from 12v (low heat, though) to 24v (max heat output). The power supply that came with it puts out 19v at 3.4a, which will only allow the iron to produce 40 to 45 watts of heat. You need a 24v input to get the full 65w. While it's simple enough to buy parts for a battery-powered setup if you (ahem) have a soldering iron and know how to use it, it was interesting that it is pitched as portable, but requires some reverse engineering to figure out how to actually get portability.I'm not disappointed, but it's something important to note if you're looking for true portability. It *can* be, but isn't out of the box, and requires additional parts and labor. The menu on it is a little unintuitive to navigate, but the display is cool, showing temperature, voltage in, etc. Overall it's still a worthy purchase for the price if you know what you're getting into.
