For execution, the center's body should be gripped in a drill chuck or collet, while the hardened point is inserted into the middle of the tapping handle. I'm new to the world of lathes and found out that this thing exists and had to have one. Such a great tool for running taps on the lathe. I don't have any frame of reference for what the tool should act and feel like but I have no complaints about this one. It works well.

Wouldn't function took apart lots of metal shavings and grease. After I got the spring ( stuck inside) out cleaned used a flapper disc to deburr the inside drill bit markings cleaned and added small amount of grease now its useable for 5/16" taps and larger. I feel the spring is to strong for 1/4" taps and smaller. Also noticed the tapered pin and the 1/2" body are not concentric I'll test it before I run a part I need.

Rough sometimes sticks in and the arbor will not fit into a precision tool holder (Arbor measures to about the right size but is not round). After sanding and cleanup it goes into the backup drawer.

This is well made but, they missed a crucial point. Some taps have a point and some have a hollow on the end. I had to make a new insert with a hollow. Some I have seen the insert is reversable
