My wife and I moved to Virginia last year from Massachusetts and she was not a fan of the tap water as it did not taste very good. So we decided to install a water filter from Apec and it made a world of difference with the taste! Now after about 14 months it was finally time to change the filters (recommendation is 6-12 months). There is 6 of us in the house (4 adults and 2 kids) but our use is moderate. The filters were dirty but not too dirty so they could have gone a little longer (it will vary on your usage). The replacement of the cartilages was actually a pretty easy process (about 10 minutes to open, replace and cleaning the housing) and other 10 minutes to let the water run to get it ready for use. Please note when removing the cartilages that they will leak water, so you should put a thick towel under the system to prevent your sink cabinet from getting wet. Overall, great product and easy to replace!

I've tried the bargain brand replacement filters a couple of times but I feel better about using the OEM branded ones.Swapping out the filters is a pretty easy process even if you've got arthritis and back problems. Just have a helper.Make sure you buy the canister wrenches. There are two different styles- easily identified.Change out your O-ring gaskets annually and lube them with plumbers grease or the little packet of lube if included.I recommend these and all products from this company. Customer service is A+ if you have any questions.

I have been using this system for 3 years and purchased replacement of filters and change twice a year. Water quality is crisp and clean. Love it!

Update: they sent new filters. I don’t 100% love the taste but it’s much better. I replaced the filters twice before and taste was amazing. Idk why this time it’s a bit different. Still good price and the taste isn’t bad. Not as great as before but not bad. Raised it to 4 stars for price, quick replacements and because it honestly tastes okay.I have ordered replacement filters from Amazon before and they’ve been great but for some reason the one I just order last week (6/2022) was different. Filters 2 and 3 looked different, but I still installed them and the water tastes bad now. Not at all like it it’s supposed to taste. My dogs typically drink two bowls of water a day and since I changed the filter they don’t even want to finish one bowl. It really doesn’t taste good. I called Amazon for a replacement so we’ll see.

Ok. Not my best wife moment...9pm on a Saturday, after watching YouTube "How To" videos I told my husband we were going to replace them. I felt confident. Youtube guy did it in 9 minutes. I got 9 minutes.I turned off the water to the house and as my sweet, amazing, wonderful (I love you if you're reading this) husband tried with the strength of 1000 Greek gods to unscrew the cannister, a FIREHYDRANT explosion of water slammed into his beautiful, porcelain face (I can't stop laughing as I write this.) and wouldn't stop.We quickly learned 1.) We don't own buckets or enough towels, 2.) shut off valves broke and 3.) I never shut off the water, just the irrigation system. (Insert angry husband)After cleaning up, we couldn't get the other cannisters open or the first one closed.Having a newborn (forgot to mention that) and toddlers, we couldn't go without water, I called a plumber at 11pm. (insert husband's bruised ego)Follow me for more marriage tips...(Oh, the filters and Oring worked great for the plumber. Just call a plumber, apparently super cheap during normal hours)
