This went into immediate use and was lightning fast in reading the microchip of a squirming kitten. It was easy to use and comfortable in my hand

This pet microchip reader is made well and functions nicely. It worked great when tested on my own dog's microchips. I liked the style, size, and weight of this one. Unfortunately, someone else seemed to like it as well and stole it from my vehicle. I do like this enough that I'll be purchasing another one as soon as have the funds to replace it.My Review Criteria: I do not review anything that I don't want/need for my own personal use and I have enough knowledge about it to provide accurate and useful details. I do tell it like it is and I am not influenced to provide feedback that isn't based on facts or my own experience. Therefore you can trust my unbiased review as if I were a friend looking out for your best interest and that of your hard-earned money.

The directions are clear making it easy to assemble and use with the digital menu. It comes with a usb charger, cord, and dongle for computer storage which was great of them to add.

This little unit worked straight out of the box. All you have to do is make sure you hit the SCAN button before running it back and forth over the area you believe there to be a chip. I tested this chip reader on all my dogs. 3 with chips, and 1 without, and all the information provided on this reader was accurate. I've been wanting one of these readers because I often find lost pets around here, and it is such a hassle taking them to the vet just to find out if they have a chip or not. This reader is going to be perfect for eliminating that very time-consuming step. I definitely recommend this reader to anyone looking for a VERY simple way to detect if a pet has a chip or not. It's a staple for any pet owner or good samaritan pet rescuer.

We have four dogs who are all microchipped and occasionally a stray shows up. I wanted a scanner to check that our dogs chips were still in place and working and check for chips in strays. This seemed like a good, inexpensive choice. The device has no problem scanning microchips. All four of the dogs' chips are active and haven't moved from their inserted location. The menu is a bit old fashioned but works. I had no problem pairing he device with an android phone or my desktop. I didn't try the dongle that came with the scanner. The upload function took a bit to figure out- the instructions were lacking. The basically say to have the device paired and the software open before trying to upload. But there is no mention of what software, either in the instructions or on the manufacturer's web site.I noticed that when the scanner was paired with bluetooth to the desktop that the icon for the device was a keyboard! For the upload function, the scanner acts like a bluetooth connected keyboard. The software to use is what ever software you want the scanned information to be 'typed' into. For example, open Notepad and upload from the scanner and the stored information is 'typed' into Notepad. I have also used it to 'type' text into the texting app on an Android phone with no problems.Other than having to figure out how to upload, I am happy with the scanner and glad to have it available.

I had high hopes, however this did not work.Instructions are lacking, there is no explanation in the booklet for what it can or cannot do in granular details. I have a chipped husky, i live in the US and it just show "scan" and never find anything. To be fair, i am unsure if my dog has a 9 or 15 code chip, regardless - wish instructions were better. Additionally, it has bluetooth connection to phone, but no app - no instructions on what that function actually give, my phone recognized it as a keyboard.I really wanted to be able to use this and maybe be helpful for when stray dogs come to my house, however - as a average home owner this is pretty useless for me, even if it gave me a "code", it did not come with a software to be able to read it and translate to usable information. I could be wrong, but this is my expierience.
