If you can get near 90 degree angle, this works at distances of over 20 feet.

See my review on the "BAFX Wired IR Repeater System" (posted 11/27/2021).In short: it's VERY SENSITIVE, has a decent "viewing angle", and can mount "almost anywhere".I ** DO INDEED RECOMMEND IT ** if you need "extra" IR receivers for your setup or a replacement for one that gets damaged in some way.

Ordered this longer receiver to accommodate larger wall tv. After fishing this through the wall and setting up, it didn't work. Now I'm stuck with this cheap dangly until I order one of quality as I need to fish the new one along through the wall again. Compared to the previous receiver I had, the old one was much better quality. Round cord instead of the flat, cheap cord on this new piece. So disappointed as it's more time spent on ordering a quality piece and redoing. Meanwhile this is what I'm stuck with.

I have a Yamaha receiver in an entertainment center that I couldn't control even though the glass without opening the door. I have had several Yamaha amplifiers in the past and they all have poor IR receivers. I installed this repeater per the instructions and placed an eye on the front of the entertainment center. Now it works great, no more opening the doors. I especially like the fact that it has extra inputs as I have outdoor speakers on my porch and I intend to place an eye out there so I don't have to walk in the house to change the volume.

Works fine but cable is only 5 ft long. I had to drill another hole on my wall to connect it.

Works so great I didn't need it!Let me explain. I bought the repeater set . I was concerned about the distance. The main couch is at 15' - fine. The kitchen is back farther at 30'. I figured I'd need this and even wired for it.As it turns out - the original repeater sensor (the same as in this kit) works fine from 30' away in the kitchen. So this is in the package. Works so well you may not need it!

Very good range. It will pick up the remote sensor from not even line of sight view. I have two of these installed in different rooms, with the main reciever system in the equipment closet. One of the rooms are my bedroom and when I'm laying down this sensor will pick up my Phillips Pronto Pro from behind a pillow and that's a very old remote. I would recommend this BAFX and all BAFS products to people who want an amazing infrared repeater at a very inexpensive cost.

** Moving edit to the top. History is below, but I've solved the issue and want to share:I was unable to get additional IR receivers to function. Troubleshooting steps included swapping the controller box, changing IR Receiver plug positions, changing emitter plug positions, changing extensions. The solution which finally solved the problem, and allowed ALL THREE IR Receivers to work: Disconnected OEM power supply and substituted an off-the-shelf USB power brick. I don't pretend to know why this worked, but it did.Raising rating from 3 to 4, but no higher, as the included power supply should be capable of making this device work as advertised. Functionally speaking, the BAFX IR system seems just fine if you DON'T use the included power supply.**Old review for posterity:I bought this 7 months ago, but have finally deployed it. The one that came with the full BAFX kit works, but this one does not. The lights flash when IR signals are sent to it, but nothing happens. (I have tried exchanging plug-in location of the receivers, with no change in function.)My setup is two TVs, sharing a security camera system and a DVD player that are both hidden. One of the receivers requires a 6 ft extension, which is what I'd initially suspected. However, one can work with an extension, and one simply doesn't function with or without an extension.I'd have given fewer stars, as this seems to be DOA, but the other receiver, transmitters, power supply, etc are working fine. I'll try buying another one and will post back if I have additional problems. Overall I'm happy with the setup, but a bit annoyed to be making a repeat purchase.
