I have tested several extenders within this price range, and this is the only one that successfully transmitted a clear, lag-free signal over my older Cat5e line. The cable runs approximately 80 feet outdoors, which typically presents reliability challenges, yet the extender performed flawlessly.

Initially, I purchased this to extend a karaoke display across the room, but ultimately, I chose a wireless solution. I appreciated that it offered a long range over CAT5 or higher and that it served as a splitter at both the transmitter and receiver ends.

I needed a way to send my computer screen to another room without running a super long HDMI cable. Using a 50-foot Cat6 cable, I hooked up the transmitter to my computer and the receiver to my TV. The picture was crisp and clear, even at 1080p. No lag or signal loss. Setup was simple, and only the transmitter needs power. It’s a solid choice if you’ve already got Cat5 or Cat6 wiring in your walls.

I needed a way to access CCTV footage at the office. Unfortunately, my office is in the very back of the building and running a very long HDMI cable was not feasible. Thankfully, this product made it easy to plug into the existing CAT5 cable at each end and then connect short HDMI cables to both the transmitter (plugged into the CCTV video out via HDMI) and the receiver (which then plugs into a splitter and goes to my monitor). Now I can easily switch over to CCTV feed at the push of a button on the splitter. I love this device, simple to setup and it works great!

I've tried a few of these extenders in this price range and this is the only one that was able to send a clear, lagless signal over my ageing Cat5e line. Cable distance is around 80ft and outdoors so it's far from reliable, but the extender handled it with no issues.

The Fosmon HDMI Extender Over Ethernet Over Single Cat5/6/7 Cable is somewhat misnamed. It doesn't use the networking protocol Ethernet but relies on a bare, 4-pair, Cat5, Cat6, or Cat7 cable terminated at both ends with RJ45 plugs. T568B is the Ethernet standard for RJ45 wiring and I assume this extender relies on that wiring standard. There are other HDMI Extenders that do use Ethernet and switches to extend an HDMI signal but that isn't what this Fosmon device does. This Fosmon HDMI Extender has the advantage of requiring a single cable and power only at the transmitting end. It includes the required power supply and an IR transmitter and IR receiver for using remote controls at the remote display. The transmitter has an HDMI IN/OUT loop eliminating the need for a splitter when viewing locally and extending the signal remotely. The receiver has two HDMI outputs for driving multiple displays. This extender does not allow you to use one transmitter with multiple receivers.I first tested the Fosmon HDMI Extender by connecting the transmitter to a computer, the transmitter to the receiver with a 25 foot Cat6 cable, and the receiver to a HDMI monitor. The computer initially displayed a 1280x720 HDMI signal but I was able to change it to 1920x1080. The display was crisp in both cases with even small fonts sharp and focused. I expect similar results when I connect it via Cat6 wiring in my walls. You can use a long HDMI cable to send the signal to a different location but that solution has drawbacks. You need a large hole or opening to pass an HDMI connector, the wire can only be used for HDMI, and you need another solution if you want to pass remote control signals. Using an extender like this allows you to take advantage of wiring that may already exist or you can run inexpensive Cat6 cable, feeding it through small holes and easily terminate the Cat6 cable with RJ45 plugs.

This is for "Fosmon HDMI Extender Over Ethernet Over Single Cat5/6/7 Cable up to 164-230ft / 50-70m, HDMI Extender Splitter with Auto EQ & POC, HDMI to Ethernet Extender Supports 1080P@60Hz with IR Remote Control"Transmitter and receiver both have sturdy metal cases with some heft. Power supply appears to be a common cell phone charger. Charging cable is usb to barrel connector.Using a 50' Cat5e cable, connected camcorder at transmit end (along with power adapter), monitor at receiver end, able to view 1080p picture without any problems. Panning back and forth didn't appear to have any lag.
