The base is sufficiently heavy to support large umbrellas. It looks nice and it is sturdy. It has a few design flows. Rail accumulates on the top. The bottom screw is quite difficult to put in place, without proper tools.

They are nice looking, sturdy and strong. Have left them outside and they still look great. Easy to use and we can depend on our umbrellas staying in place. They are a bit heavy but I’m sure they need to be. Plan on buying 4 more in a few months.

This seems simple. Choose a stand that looks good to you, and is heavy enough and large enough to keep your umbrella in place. There are many available. This one is not the least expensive, but it provides value for your dollar, and does what it is designed to do. Best Choice Products, the manufacturer, has other designs, including a round stand, that you also might like.This stand has an attractive basket weave pattern with a "weathered bronze" coloring that we found attractive. There's confusion over what this base is made of, caused by the word "Steel" in the product title. It's pretty clear that the piece which receives the umbrella pole is made of steel, but the base itself is either a solid cast resin material, or perhaps steel or concrete completely coated with resin. A magnet does not stick to it. It appears to me to be very water resistant, and I would not expect the base to rust or deteriorate. I prefer this to a base made of steel or concrete materials, as I've owned concrete-base "torchiere" lamps with bases that disintegrated over time. The base is a square which measures 17.5 inches on a side. The basket weave pattern does retain water, and it's slow to evaporate. I just blow most of it out with a leaf blower when I'm cleaning the deck, but if that seems like a problem you might prefer a stand with a smooth surface. There's a single adjustment screw on the steel receiver that snugs up the connection between base and umbrella so that the umbrella will not twist in the wind.Whether this stand keeps your umbrella upright is your other consideration. The stand is able to accommodate either 1.5 or 1.75 inch umbrella poles, through the use of an adapter. The description implies that it can accommodate anything in between as well. The description says that the stand can support up to 7.5 foot umbrellas. I believe this refers to the diameter of the umbrella rather than its height. This is a fairly small umbrella as deck umbrellas go. In any event, an umbrella which is taller, or has a larger diameter, presents a greater challenge, and if the wind is strong enough, any umbrella could tip. I'm using a 10 foot umbrella, but mine goes through a hole in a large glass and metal table which obviously provides additional support. I always lower the umbrella when I'm away, or when a storm is expected.It's a bit confusing to be sure all of the included parts are present, since some pieces are already installed on the stand, some are in a separate bag, and some are tucked into one of the styrofoam supports of the packaging. Everything was there.Recommended.
