This is an amazing tool if you want your half square triangles to trim up perfectly. The center grove fits into the seam line of your block, by sliding along the seam to align the corners you are able to make beautiful squares in a breeze. When making a large number of blocks, I recommend that you cut all of the squares on one side first, then turn your pile of squares around and trim the opposite side.

I am not a gadget person. But, this ruler isn't a gadget. It is an essential for any quilter who does half square triangles. There is a learning curve, but the results are worth it.

This is just what it seams. The groove aligns perfectly on the seam so you are able to cut the seam allowance down to exactly 1/4 of an inch quickly, easily, and accurately. Not cheep, but worth it if you are a quilter.

As a more beginning quilter this tool was invaluable in helping me square up all the HSTs for a quilt I made my sister. It was made entirely with half square Triangles and if they aren't squared up properly, things can go wonky super fast. This tool let me easily and quickly square up my blocks and made sewing everything together that much smoother. I'll definitely be purchasing more Bloc Loc rulers. This was my 1st quilt that ever required half square Triangles, and only the 6th quilt I've ever made, and I'm so glad I had this ruler to help me.Also, if anyone is interested, I used a Donna Jordan tutorial titled Hugs and Kisses (which is a Fab Five Pattern). It's on her Jordan Fabrics YouTube page.
