These cutters are the perfect 'in-between' tool. They are not large and do not have the torque to cut a full-size bolt. Even if they could, with the small handles you would need the hand strength of a god to pull it off. However, they ARE very strong bolt cutters for smaller jobs. For chicken wire, even metal fence wire, and such, these things will do their job like a dream! They're functional in the range of metal cutting and they do it well. They do not require the hand strength required by the typical small wire cutters, partially due to the longer and more ergonomic handles. So, they make cutting through something like a chain link fence a much easier process. The price is about perfect for these when you consider that a regular small handle wire cutter runs about $6 - $8 and these are better built.

While these are good nail, cable, and small material cutters they certainly aren’t bolt cutters. You’ll still have to put a good squeeze on them to cut through a screw. Overall they’re fair budget cutters but I would also recommend gathering other options before settling. Thanks for your time.

sleek and compact bolt cutters - good for cutting through heavy gauge wire more so than bolts or locks. I was looking for a pair like this for my bug-out bag; for urban planning having a means to cut through chain-link can help with a lot egress or ingress situations. Also good for improvised tool and shelter building. I'll be keeping these in my truck for now as part of my kit there. Recommended after first few tests, long term use will tell.

This 8 inch cutter has got to be the tiniest bolt cutter I've ever seen. I have a big one that is probably close to 3 feet long, and now I have this little baby cutter, LOL. But what it lacks in size it seems to be making up for in quality. The mechanism is all smooth and the ends definitely appear sharp. I think with it's small size I'm going to end up using it mostly for things that I would otherwise have probably used regular wire cutters on. I tend to abuse my wire cutters by trying to cut wires or metal objects that are just too thick or hard for them. These should be able to handle those jobs much easier and hopefully will help my wire cutters thus to last longer as well. The only thing I would change is that the handles seem to be a bit cheaply made plastic. Time will tell how long that holds up. But otherwise the build quality seems great and I'm happy to recommend.

These bolt cutters are ok, but not great. The limit screw is cross-threaded on arrival (see pics) and the black metal handle feels very thin. The grip material is also thin, however this is preference and I like it as it allows access to narrower spots. They do cut alright but longevity is in question.

These are wire cutters. "Bolt cutter styled"....yes. But at the end of the day, unless you're lopping off one of those teeny-tiny luggage locks, then these are really only going to be used on thin gauge wire.Worked great for taking some old signs off of my new chain link fence. Previous home owner wired up a bunch of random license plates and whatever signs to the fence. These worked great for snipping the rusted wire and taking the signs down. However, "bolts" or "locks are in my opinion are going to be a "no-go". Comfortable grips and functional tool for light gauge wire like that used to attached signs to fences or make jewelry. Maybe even jewelry chain. Don't have any of that around the house, so I can't say for sure. They do have a jewelry light gauge chain feel to them, though.Hope that helps your decision. Enjoy!!

I got these to help cut some small metal sheets, and for the most part it worked well. They are hand size so you won't have a big cutting range with these, but for small projects it seemed to work well. I used this to cut out a metal storage housing unit in an old PC to make room for a graphics card. Luckily, this worked better than having to take a drill or dremel to the housing unit. These are a good addition to your tool box for special products. These definitely need firm substances to cut, such as cutting things like cardboard.

Not sure what i should compare this to but I was hoping to be able to one-hand cut my high tensile 14 ga wire and I couldn't. Still took two hands and a hard squeeze. I guess I just need one size bigger cutters. Probably my fault for not knowing better. My other pair are very large and are a little too big to carry around. That being said these do look very nice.

I ordered this with the intention of cutting a few older locks. I did not have much success. I don't think I'm that weak. I mean, I work out and lift and whatnot. But I wasn't able to cut the locks with this. I thought maybe the locks were too much. I tried cutting an actual bolt. No success. I was able to cut nails with it. But that's not really what I was hoping to achieve. It looks well made. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong when using it. Perhaps it's not designed well, or maybe the blade is not sharp enough the way it should be. Overall, I wasn't able to get the job done. So, if you are looking for a strong bolt cutter for anything larger than a nail, you might wanna keep looking.

The clamps are heavy gauge and apparently have a cutting edge made of high strength steel, and apparently it should not chip. We will see about this. When I did a test to cut a nail, It took a lot of force. It was not easy. Too bad it is not a ratchet style for applying cutting force. It did cut the nail though. The description says that it will take up to 1/4 inch diameter piece of metal. But be forewarned it will take a lot of force to do it.This tool is not meant for precise work. I think that if there was measurement guide label on the clamp edge, it may help. Frankly, it is not for precision cutting. The hand grips are good enough such that my hands did not slip and holding the handle was ok.This tool will work for you, if you do not mind using a lot of force, and you know its limitations. And the price point is good.

I like that these bolt cutters are compact and measure roughly 8 inches long so they're able to fit in my tool bag pocket. The handles provide decent leverage although a drawback is that they're not the most comfortable to hold as they're thin and coated with a hard plastic instead of soft rubberized grips. The blades feel hard and I was able to cut through multiple nails, a small steel chain and deck screws without causing any wear or dulling.Overall these bolt cutters feel durable and are handy to use for cutting through thick gauge wire or fasteners that regular side cutters can't. These have some limitations however, since the jaws are only able to open roughly 6.5 mm wide at the tips and are only 8 inches long with short handles, I find that cutting through large bolts or locks is quite difficult. The build quality feels decent for the price range and everything is held permanently together with steel rivets and nothing bends or flexes during use.

I was somehow expecting this pair of bolt cutters from the HOUSERAN store to be larger, based on bolt cutters I have seen and used in the past, but these are sized as advertised, still very strong, but surprisingly portable as well. They are still heavy duty and will get you through even a padlock if you needed them to. I am certain they will do the job required, and are lightweight to carry compared to the much larger ones. That said, time will tell if a larger bolt ends up damaging the cutter part; will update review if they are easily wrecked, but for now they seem fine. 4 stars.
