The drill will not fit in a half inch drilled hole - the drill tip extends beyond half inch by about 1/32"

This is the only one and done drill bit. This can drill through wood, cement, tile, and steel. Not only does it do all that, but it does it better than most specific bit for those jobs.

I used these drills to bore deep holes in metal, brass & mild steel & aluminum, and they worked very well. I was using them in a drill chuck mounted to my lathe tailstock to drill out fairly narrow pen blanks. I encountered very few problems. However, when I was using a hand drill to bore holes in soft wood [fur] I found them to be very slow to cut. They cut the wood, but I didn’t like the results. Still like them because I bought them for metal. Can’t tell why drilling soft wood went slowly with crummy results.

Just as other reviewers have pointed out, these are A+ for tough jobs. Where other bits failed on the same job, these worked amazingly well. One bit cut through a cumulative amount of 4 inches of stainless steel with the use of some good cutting wax and was still in good shape.
