I have had Calphalon pans for over 20 years. My daughter recently moved out on her own and I couldn't think of a better house warming/Christmas gift. I am sure this is only the start of a collection of pots and pans from the Calphalon line.

This stock pot is the PERFECT size for making a batch of stew, homemade soups, boiling pasta, etc. for a family of 2-6. The lid has deep sides which avoids boiling water “spattering” and IMHO a handling safety measure . The pot has two filtered pouring spouts and the pot is designed to co-ordinate to line up with the lid to strain if desired. Any kitchen will find this a great addition in the cookware department!

I love these unique features like markings in the pot showing quarts or the pour spouts and lid that acts like a strainer! I received my pot today, washed it, and was cooking spaghetti tonight. I did not need a separate strainer so keep up was one colander less :-) The pots are nicely balanced - not too heavy. The handles are strong - not flimsey. The finish is beautiful. I will LOVE cooking using the Calphalon Classic Stainless Steel Cookware. (I bought not only the 6 qt but also the 4qt and 1.5qt sauce pans). Decided not to go with a set - I have favorite sizes and to keep pans that I never use seems silly.

I think this is an awesome pot. You have to be used to cooking with stainless steel on a gas stovetop. Easy to brown and love the pour feature. Handles do get hot simply because the flame can be high and heat them up. But they are not blazing hot just hotter than the plastic handles on my previous pot that had to go. I like that it's a bit taller and not so wide. For my city kitchen this fits our cabinets better.

I’m somewhat happy with this pot. It felt a bit light and cheap when I first bought it but I figured it was all right since the older I get the harder it is to lift heavy pans. It cooks well and I LOVE THE BUILT IN STRAINER IN THE LID. The lid feels like it’s better quality than the pot itself. What really disappointed me was that all ready there are fairly deep scratches in the bottom of the pan. I’ve used it maybe ten times? I never, ever use anything but a rubber or wooden spoon to stir and use a non scratch cleaner sponge, so I didint where the scratches coming from. It wasn’t a $300 pot but not exactly cheap. Sigh.

This pot has been totally perfect for me. It's a great size for spaghetti specifically. The Calphalon Classic line is my favorite because you get quality stainless steel at a really reasonable price and they have vented lids for easy draining. That is a huge deal for me because I hate having to making extra dishes so not having to pull out the colander is great. It also has clear measurement markings inside which is an added bonus. Overall this is a great pot from a fabulous line.

Although I liked the design on the lid with the strainer built in, this pot is way too thin and lightweight. It simply would not stand up to much wear over time, it will dent easily for sure. It feels cheap and thin. I returned without even using it because I could tell it just wouldn't last in my kitchen. Going with the Cuisinart Chef's Classic instead (its thicker, heavier, AND less expensive)....sorry Calphalon.
