It does not prevent my seat belt from still retracting too tightly. The tensioner in the device needs to be adjusted by the manufacturer so that it works properly.

I've got an old car and the drivers seat belt latch has a wanky connection and when the tensioner takes up the slack, it thinks the belt is disconnected and the car dings at me relentlessly- well, this solve my problem by allowing me to limit the tension and keep that connection so no more dings!! Yay!
