I don't like tape guns with handles. I have always liked the dispenser that the disposable Scotch heavy duty packing tape came in. This is that same design but so much more well built. I don't like tape terrors packing tape but this dispenser is awesome and works perfectly with 3" core Scotch heavy duty packing tape.

I find it awkward to hold and keep unexpectedly cutting tape. Maybe it's because I'm so used to the "handle" type I use almost daily, but this doesn't work out well for me personally. I move heavy medical equipment that gets completely wrapped in bubble wrap. To me it is difficult to get started one handed, which is essential while holding bubble wrap in other hand. It does feel well built though.However, the tape is awesome! Glad I purchased the version that came with a roll. Sticks much better than other brands I have tried, including the big S. I will buy more tape in the future.Since the dispenser is more compact than most, I decided to keep it for rare home use in packing up auction items. I can make due with it in for an occasional box, since I can use both hands.

The usual tape dispensers are annoying to refill, not always easy to use, and overall frustrating. Thus one though even my professional movers were impressed with!

There are so many positive reviews on this and I’m confused. You have to hold the tape down the whole time you’re taping a box or it will come up (maybe that’s just a flaw with the tape they provide) and then you have to angle the thing just right to avoid not cutting the tape in the middle of pulling it across the box. I got frustrated with it and bought an old-school clunky tape roller instead. May be clunky but it’s going to save me a lot of time and frustration.

This is the first time I have ever written an Amazon review. This tape dispenser is the worst. We have moved a lot and I do all of the packing myself. I bought this tape dispenser to use on our most recent move and I regret it. It didn’t stretch the tape, my hands are all cut up, and the tape constantly ripped. Do not recommend.
