Should leave zero stars. Unit DOA. Did not turn on even with a new battery. Typical Chinese junk sold through amazon. Should have bought American.

Amazon warns that this product is poor and frequently returned. Did I heed that clear message? I did not and now I’m another disappointed rube. Needed to test coax cable continuity, per product description, but this produce failed to do that. The RJ45 test seemed to work and if that’s all you need, then this product may be suitable.

I call this an Intermittent Continuity Tester because it actually tests each conductor intermittently. It cannot be paused on any given conductor, nor can it test all lines at once. Even the Coax testing is just a flash like all other conductors. This is ok if you're trying to find a cable that goes to a particular jack, and you already know which cable it might be. It can also show if a multi-conductor cable is a cross-over or straight-through.This tester will show no lights if none of the conductors are working. It will not help troubleshoot an intermittent conductor though; it scrolls through the test lines way too fast for that.As a homeowner trying to figure out an internal wiring problem, this unit may frustrate you. As a career network engineer, this unit is not up to contemporary professional standards. One unexpected surprise is that this unit does actually test the shield conductor of STP. It is very unlikely that STP would be found in a typical home, and no business would use a tester of this low quality; but there it is, an intermittent Shielded Twisted Pair continuity test.I will keep this unit around for those times when I need to buzz out a Cat5 or Cat6 cable to see if it's cross-over or straight through. It will also be handy to have nearby to sort through antenna cables (using the proper adapters on the BNC connectors, of course). It does not have an F connector (cable TV connector); this testing would only be possible with a BNC to F adapter.
