I had first seen this type of specific measuring gadget years ago and had been curious. My one handyman a while ago said it was the best tool he ever purchased when installing flooring. His skills were excellent and without this his work and math were precise. It's now time for me to install flooring and I searched the reviews of different brands of this type of precision measure. I happened to make use of it last night to cut landscape fabric around a boulder and it took the outside edge of the boulder perfectly and the fabric lay around it without fuss or struggle like in my other free form approximate cuts. It feels like it's quality in wight and sturdiness+ I like the lock on it, so easy to use. Looking forward to using with my laminate around door frames. When I put it away I slid the black part down 1/2 way toske sure the teeth keep their shape.

This is great for coarse work, such as laying tile or other work that only requires a minimal degree of accuracy; however, when working with musical instruments, it is too coarse to make fine cuts. This would be better if the shaping pins were closer together and perhaps made of metal, but that would probably increase the cost prohibitively. Not for precision work. I will keep it for some of my less-demanding projects, where it will be ideal.
