A must have for ranch hand - cuts, crimps, hammers, among other things. Always have these readily available for ranch repairs.

I have never fenced before but after a short tutorial from another I was able to learn to use this very quickly. Well designed. Well weighted.

First time I cut wire with them it caused a burr which has left them stiff and awkward to use. The wire grip between handles is too far apar so they can't grip planewire. Not too bad for gripping barbwire. Do not cut with them....

We were replacing some fence posts and realized we had no good way to remove the existing staples to get the wire off. Found these pliers and they've been a time saver. They are very versatile with the ability to remove staples, pound in new staples. clip wire, and even hold the new staples for use with a hammer. We've even used them to dismantle a couple of wood crates too. A necessary tool I now wish I'd had for years.

I expected everything except the gigantic size. I have medium sized women's hands, and very long fingers, and I cannot open these with my hands. My full finger span from tip of middle finger to tip of thumb is 8". These are DEFINITELY man sized, and a man with large hands too. That said, the quality is great, and they are heavy and solid (which also isn't the best for my use, these weigh more than a hammer). But... I managed to cut a twisted barbed wire with both hands squeezing (and a hand on each handle to get it apart to fit the wire in the slot). Did I mention these are HUGE? Maybe they were designed for a giant's hands. Hrm. I know there are men with hands my size or smaller. If you have BIG hands, you will love this. If you don't, you probably won't.

I have just been using this to strip some old wire fence, and the head geometry means it's very easy to grab wire and manipulate it. It has a feature which is great for pulling staples, and bypass wire cutters which handle heavy gauge wire. It's a bit of a waste of time as a hammer - it's too light and the striking face too small.

This is a decent set of fencing pliers. I use my Titanium Stiletto Hammer for sinking staples. These have a milled grove face that mars the posts and I don't like hammering with pliers anyways. You can use them for hammering 1-10 staples in a repair, but for any more than that I would definitely recommend taking a hammer. The metal is not hardened I suspect. I noticed that from hammering the face to set the hook in underneath staples that I needed to pull, resulted in the milled grooves flattening out. Not sure why they would use a soft metal. The other functions on the pliers work great. Cutting wire, pulling wire, twisting and prying all work well. The handles are comfortable and stay on. Overall a decent set from DeWalt that I think consistently makes 5 star worthy tools.

I'm not a professional fence guy. I am a homeowner who has a decent amount of split rail fence and wire fencing attached to the split rail fence to keep the dogs int the yard. I have to replace rails on a fairly regular basis and this tool is great for removing the fencing staples and cutting wire fencing. So for the price and usefulness in my situation, this tool gets 5 stars. YMMV.
