The DEWALT DNP612 Plunge Base for Compact Router has an sdjustable, tool-free steel motor cam lock that makes depth adjustment and base changes quick and solid-locking. It has precision machined brass bushings and case-hardened steel guide rods that provide a smooth and accurate plunge stroke. It has a xlear, LEXAN sub-base to provide enhanced base durability, bit visibility, and accepts standard template guide bushings. The rubber overmolded handles and low center of gravity design provide best-in-class user comfort, balance, and control. IT has a heavy-duty, precision machined, die-cast aluminum base and motor housing for durability and low tool weight. The five position, adjustable turret stop assists in stepped or repeated plunge cuts and it has micro-fine depth adjustment on the plunge base 5/128" per turn for precise routing in veneer and inlays. It also has an easy to reach plunge lever and switch for superior control while routing.

The router edge guide "recommended" with the plunge router base do not work together! This is not the edge guide you want if you want one that works with the plunge router. You would want the one with the rods.

If you have a Dewalt trim router, this combo kit will take it to the next level. You have a guide that will help you cut straight over long distances and the plunge base allows you to set a depth you want and easily plunge into where you want to cut. The two handles on the plunge base really help when you need to ensure accuracy or make more delicate cuts.

I just used the guide for the first time today. It travels smoothly and firmly attaches.The plunge router works great.This is the first high quality router I've ever used. It was tough but after several jobs and getting used to the feel of it and letting it do the work it feels great.It is a little tough to set the depth you want but it is set accurately and doesn't change.The lever controlling router depth works easily.I've watched many youtube videos and picked up some tricks and feel very comfortable using this.
