I ordered this meter to monitor how long my house A/C was running since my thermostat does not track run-time. I placed the meter on top of my indoor HVAC unit. Unfortunately (or fortunately) the vibration from the indoor unit was not enough to register on this meter.Just to make sure it was working I put the meter on our dehumidifier and it did register the run-time. I'm certain if I mounted it on my outdoor AC unit the meter would track the run-time but that is less convenient.Four stars because it works, minus 1 star since not sensitive enough for what I wanted it for. Also SAVE your instructions!! I can't find mine and it took me over 10 minutes of playing with the buttons to change the sensitivity from 1 to 3. I'm still not sure how I changed it.Review of: $19 Digital Hour Meter,Vibration Activation,Maintenance Reminder,Resettable Job Timer,User Lock, for Generator Marine ATV Lawn Mower Motor and Equipment That Vibrates at Work

This is a very cool little hour meter that operates on vibration -- so no need to drill a hole and run a wire to the spark plug cable like most hour meters. This also has a variety of functions, and you can have 'jobs' so you can just count the hours of what you are doing at that project.

Using this on an electric motor driven shop air compressor. Works great once you find the sweet spot to activate it, as it "wakes up" from vibration. I just used masking tape and tried a few likely spots on my compressor until I found the most "active" location. From there on in, it's all automatic.Lithium battery on these types of device often last about 10 years or so. That will probably outlive my compressor and maybe even me. So I'm not too worried about not being able to change the battery. The unit is sealed against moisture, dust, etc. So the not being able to change the battery is a small price to pay.Good product.

I like the idea of using the engine vibration to detect and count run time for managing the maintenance schedule of some piece of equipment. I am using this on my log splitter. It is difficult to manually track the accumulated use-time on such an irregularly used piece of equipment. This comes with strong double sided tape to affix it to your equipment. When attaching, make sure the surface is clean. I suggest wiping the spot with alcohol first to ensure a good bond.2-Star ding… this is a “1-use” item. Once the battery dies, throw it away and find another solution. Perhaps they will still be selling these things. Maybe not. Either way, you’ve got to go shop for another tool instead of just a replacement battery. That is neither environmentally friendly or consumer friendly. They say the battery will last a long time, but who cares. You will have a problem when you’ve forgotten about the problem (removing and disposing the old device from your machine, finding a new device, accounting for your operating time between the switch).Due to the non-replaceable battery issue, this product seems more like a novelty than a legitimate tool.I still like it because it works good but I’m not looking forward to the day I notice it’s dead.
