The installation instructions are brief and miss some important steps. I programmed the unit while it was unplugged but when it was subsequently plugged into the wall socket it would not activate the schedule even though the auto function was selected. After several attempts, After many attempts, I luckily discovered that the unit needed to cycle through the on-off-auto settings AFTER it was plugged into the outlet and connected to the device being activatedcontrolled for the programming to activate.Also, the unit badly needs a backlight function to be able to read the display when it is plugged into a wall outlet!
