This is the third one purchased and unfortunately this time it only lasted less than four months on a vehicle we barely drive. Hoping the manufacturer will replace/refund given how expensive these are getting.

This regulator fit perfectly. Don't forget the rivets to reattach the speaker to the new regulator and disconnect the battery to clear the settings of the old regulator. Great product.

Installment was very easy no modifications were needed to be made everything fit the OEM door, and aligned correctly. I have had no issues with the durability of the product. It comes pre lubricated aswell. I have heard no noise from the regulator itself.

Not this one in particular, but these window regulators on the MKIV series of VW cars are very prone to wearing out and needing to be replaced. I believe this is the 2nd time I've had to replace the passenger front side door window regulator. I couldn't find this brand for a good price anywhere. I randomly decided to check Amazon and I was very surprised to find it, and with Prime Shipping! It installed very easily and my window works again. This is a quality option.

Excellent window regulator for an MK4 VW (JETTA).You may need to get some push mount cable zip ties for when you move over the wiring, chances are you break some of the push mount cable zip ties when moving over the wire to the new window regulator. The torque specs for the bolts that attach the window regulator to the door = 71 in/lbs or 8NM for the 2 bolts on the metal clips that hold the glass in place it is 89 in/lbs or 10NM. Use a torque wrench, and do the job right. If you take the torque specs in account, chances are that your clips won't break on this window regulator, also to lower the glass in place, use some silicone lube spray or if you don't have it, maybe WD 40 on the rubber of the clips so you won't have to push to make the glass sink all the way in place. (Again, this will help not to break the clips prematurely). When reinstalling the lock, you probably cannot reuse the rivets on the bracket to push it back into the new w/regulator, I find that a couple of nuts and bolts with some washer do an excellent job at it, a blob of hot glue over the bolts seals the deal :o)If you still have the stock speakers, you may have to drill out the rivets, and get yourself an riveting tool, to reinstall the speaker onto the new window regulator. In my case and changed out the speakers for some Blaupunkt speakers I got on amazon, got some adapters and riveted those into the new window regulator. Finally, I used some grease I use for installing brake pads to grease up the rails of the regulator, another thing that prevents premature failure. This is just a short write up, assuming you already know how to remove and reinstall the door lock, and you know how to remove the door panel etc...just some pointers in my experience that help with the install.

If you are looking at this item you are a early 2000s jetta owner. VW used plastic to hold the window. This breaks. It has happen 3 TIMES! First time i bought the wire and clips in a set for 30$ or so dollars. What a pain to install that was and it didn't last. broke again. Then i decided to buy this Perfect replacement with metal retaining clips. Never broke again. Just bought one for the driver side last week and it works great.NOTE: i noticed that when i installed the first one the window slid slowly. To combat this i lubed the metal that the retaining clip slides on with axel grease. world of difference.

I ordered the Dorman brand replacement window regulator based on the picture provided in its description. The dark finish matches a previous aftermarket replacement that I ordered about 6 years ago. That model lasted for over 5 years before it failed. The original factory regulator also lasted about 5 years...closer to 6 I believe. When my first replacement regulator failed earlier this year, I ordered a replacement. Instead of having the dark-finish on the panel, I received a replacement regulator which had a panel that was raw aluminum with VERY sharp edges on it. The raw aluminum panel came from [...], who I have had great experiences with in the past, but that time was an exception. The regulator I received in this order from Amazon is exactly like the one I got from [...]. It is of lower quality than the OEM version or the first replacement that I purchased for my Jetta. I truly wish that I could remember the manufacturer of the aftermarket replacement regulator that I bought 6 years ago after the factory unit failed. I would buy it again in a heartbeat. Instead, I am returning this unit and will pay the extra $50 to buy a unit directly from Volkswagen. Those units last about 5 years. These cheap aftermarket units only last a few months. The price may be almost twice as much for the OEM unit, but it will last 10 times as long.
