Thrilled with this purchase. We have had a slow draining bathroom sink since we moved in our new house for about 6 months ago. It finally got so bad, it would fill up trying to wash your hands and take about 5-7 minutes to drain from the sink. We tried everything for about a week and then I ordered this auger. We took the trap off and went into the pipe from under the sink and the snake would only go so far and would not make the turn in the pipe. My husband ended up going downstairs and running the auger into the pipe by removing a cap and running it in the pipe towards the main drain but just could not quite get it to go into the turn where th main pipe goes downward. Finally we made the dreaded call to a plumber and it was going to cost between $400 and $650 to clear that main drain. My husband said let me try one more time before that plumber heads over here later. He went down there and was finally able to get it past that one point he was getting caught up in and BOOM! Then clog was cleared from the main drain and out plumbing is like brand new. This was a life saver.

A nice drain opening snake for sinks and showers. It is well built of good materials and is a good value for the money. It functions to clean or open sink and shower drains but not sewer lines. It is easy to use either by hand or powered by a battery drill. It will pay for itself the first time you use it.

It did not unplug my drain at all! I run it up 4 different drains and it didn't unplug any of them.

Product was exactly as described. Before buying I noticed a few whiners that complained that the product was too heavy or that they had to actually do some manual labor. Poor things. The 50 footer was twice as heavy as my 25 footer but went the distance that I needed it to go and it worked perfectly.

Using it was easy, not as easy or fast as an automatic snake, but it did the job for a fraction of the cost.

Usually we have to rent the powered auger once a year when the city sewer cleaning blocks this house’s sewer. I've looked at these at local and chain stores but only saw 10-foot to 25-foot drain snakes available, and 25’ wouldn't make it to the city pipe. This one doesn't seem to be the sturdiest material, (the extra weight of which would've made it harder to use anyway) but it's less messy than the shorter bare one I use on the sink drains. The bag is a nice addition since I've always kept these in trash bags and they usually tear holes in them. Putting a trash bag into the included bag, then putting the rinsed and air-dried drain snake into the bags is so much neater. I just wish there were an attachment that could be added to make this function as a closet auger as well. Still, it's a better value than having to rent a 35 foot powered auger, and easier to use and to carry around. It doesn't have the strength of the rental obviously, but it's enough for dislodging clogs.

My existing 50-foot snake had a bunch of kinks in the snake, so it was time for a replacement. I liked that this had the drill attachment feature (which my existing one didn't have), so that's why I go this. Unfortunately this snake is of a lower quality than the one I was replacing. The housing is made of a much weaker metal and arrived slightly bent out of shape. I was able to bend it back with just my hands; for comparison my older snake doesn't budge an inch when I try to deform it. Also, although the drill feature does work, it also gets to be quite long and unwieldy (and won't fit into some spots when trying to use it. Overall I just wish this was of better quality metal. The weight of these things is always in the coil itself, so using something a little stronger wouldn't have hurt the functionality and would have been a better long-term product.
